The difference between the upper respiratory tract and the lower respiratory tract is important for preventing diseases

Respiratory disease is a common disease, especially in the current season, it is easy to be infected, but the human respiratory tract is divided into upper respiratory tract and lower respiratory tract, the types and mechanisms of infection of the two are somewhat different.

1. Differences in onset sites and symptoms

Upper respiratory tract infection refers to the burning sensation in the nose and throat caused by the common cold, followed by nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, general discomfort and muscle aches, while lower respiratory tract infection includes acute trachea, bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, and pneumonia, which may cause symptoms such as fever, cough, sputum, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. It is an inflammation in a certain part of the body.

2. Is there any noise in breathing?

People with upper respiratory tract infection will not have any murmurs when breathing, but people with lower respiratory tract infection will hear a squeaking sound when breathing, that is, there is murmur, which indicates that the inflammation is in the bronchi.

3. Different pathogenic factors

Upper respiratory tract infections often occur when the climate changes suddenly, such as when caused by cold, rain, excessive fatigue, etc., while lower respiratory tract infections are caused by allergic reactions to cold air, dust, irritating gases or smoke.

4. Do you need to take antibiotics?

If an upper respiratory tract infection is not treated promptly, it is likely to lead to a lower respiratory tract infection. Upper respiratory tract infections do not require antibiotics, but lower respiratory tract infections do require some antibiotics.
