How to wash carbon ink off clothes

How to wash carbon ink off clothes

People who work in offices can easily get carbon ink on their clothes if they are not careful. If this is not cleaned in time, it will not be easy to clean over time. Especially some lighter colored clothes will become more difficult to wash over time. So how can you clean carbon ink from clothes? Below we introduce several methods.

Both ink and ink are made from soot. Chemically speaking, soot is carbon. Look through all the chemistry books and you will not find a solvent that can dissolve carbon. Obviously, it is impossible to dissolve ink from clothes using any solvent.

However, there are other ways:

Once you get ink stains on your clothes, you should immediately take them off, soak them in water, and rub them with rice grains to remove the ink stains. If the ink stain has been there for a long time, it will be difficult to clean. As for blue ink stains on clothes, they are much easier to deal with than ink stains because people can use a variety of chemicals to bleach blue ink. Because the main component of blue-black ink is ferrous tannate. In the air, it is oxidized by oxygen to become iron tannate. Ferrous tannate can dissolve in water, while ferric tannate is a black precipitate that is insoluble in water. So, if your clothes are stained with blue ink, wash them immediately with detergent and the stain may be completely removed. However, if it is left for a long time, the ink will turn into iron tannate, which will be difficult to wash off. However, we can also use some chemical reducing agents to reduce ferric tannate back to ferrous tannate, such as using oxalic acid solution to wash away the ink stains. Oxalic acid is a white solid and a very important raw material in industry. It can be found in almost every laboratory or pharmacy. In short, don't worry if oil, ink or black ink gets on your clothes, we can always find a way to make them disappear.

The above methods are all effective in removing carbon ink from clothes. As long as you strictly follow the cleaning method described above, you will be able to remove the carbon ink on the clothes. Be careful not to use too much force when washing, otherwise the clothes may be damaged. You should also choose laundry detergent carefully.
