What to do if there are polyps in the eyes

People with polyps in their eyes are very likely to have pterygium, a very common disease in ophthalmology, commonly known as "fish meat". This disease is a chronic inflammatory lesion caused by irritation. The disease can affect one eye or both eyes simultaneously. After a pterygium attacks, it is easy to invade the cornea, and the polyp gradually grows larger, eventually causing the pupil to be covered, which has a great impact on vision and requires active treatment.

Try to avoid external stimulation and actively treat chronic eye inflammation. Use antibiotic eye drops to control conjunctival inflammation and reduce congestion. Corticosteroid eye drops may be used when congestion is more severe. To reduce external stimulation, you can wear appropriate photochromic glasses. Small, static pterygium requires no treatment. If the pterygium is progressive or has approached the pupil area, affecting vision or restricting eye movement, surgical resection can be performed. For patients who are unwilling to undergo surgery, 0.3ml of 2000 to 3000U/ml bleomycin solution can be injected into the neck and body of the pterygium under surface anesthesia once a week, and 3 to 6 times constitute a course of treatment. To alleviate local reactions, 0.3 ml of prednisolone and tetracycline cortisone eye ointment can be injected under the conjunctiva of the contralateral side.

Cryotherapy uses a 40°C cryotherapy head to contact the head and neck of the pterygium, destroying its new blood vessels and causing them to shrink. For smaller and thinner pterygium. Surgical treatment, indications: pterygium is progressive, hypertrophic and congested; pterygium has invaded the area near the pupil and affected vision. The surgical treatment of pterygium should achieve three main goals: 1. safely remove the pterygium; 2. achieve good optical effect; and 3. avoid recurrence. Therefore, one must be particularly careful when choosing a surgical method.

This is the end of the introduction to eye treatment. It should be noted that many outdoor workers, such as construction workers, fishermen, cleaners, etc. are at high risk of pterygium. These people are often exposed to dust, and their eyes are easily exposed to adverse stimulation from sunlight and smoke. Therefore, these people must take protective measures when working, such as wearing eye masks when working outdoors, and washing their faces and cleaning their eyes in time after get off work.
