Can moldy Cordyceps be eaten

Cordyceps sinensis is rich in nutrients. It can not only be used as food, but also as a Chinese medicinal material. However, it should be noted that the storage method of Cordyceps sinensis is very particular. If it is not stored properly, it will easily cause the Cordyceps sinensis to mold and deteriorate, which will seriously affect the edible effect of the Cordyceps sinensis, and may even make the moldy and deteriorated Cordyceps sinensis completely unusable and will eventually be wasted.

You need to check the degree of mold on the Cordyceps and then decide whether to throw it away! How to test the moldy Cordyceps sinensis first? The method is to select 5 representative Cordyceps sinensis, break them in the middle and observe the color of their cross section. The whiter the cross section of Cordyceps sinensis is, the less quality damage it has suffered. Remedial method: If the mold is not too serious, you can first dry the moldy food, then wipe it with high-proof liquor, then dry it, seal it in a sealed bag when storing it, and then eat it as soon as possible to make the best use of it.

The yellower the cross-section color of Cordyceps sinensis, the more damaged its quality is. There is currently no authoritative clinical trial to show whether eating Cordyceps sinensis with yellow cross-section color is harmful to the human body. Therefore, it is recommended to discard it. Medicines (mainly traditional Chinese medicines) are most susceptible to mold. Not only will their efficacy be reduced or almost ineffective, but the key is that they will also produce side effects or cause illness.

If the quantity is small and the storage time is short, just put it in a cool and dry place. (For example: if it is estimated to be used up within one month, it can be placed directly in a cool and dry place). You can also put Cordyceps sinensis in a sealed glass jar, add a small amount of Sichuan pepper or Cortex Moutan, and then refrigerate it and take it out when you need it.

If the Cordyceps you buy is particularly large, it is best to put a desiccant in the storage container when storing it. This will absorb moisture and prevent the Cordyceps from getting moldy and infested with insects. In addition, moldy and spoiled Cordyceps sinensis is prohibited from use. Otherwise, eating this kind of Cordyceps sinensis will not only fail to play its due role, but will cause great harm to the body.
