White walls at home can easily cause cataracts. Five strategies to stay away from cataracts

White walls at home can easily cause cataracts. Five strategies to stay away from cataracts

The main symptom of cataract is visual impairment, which is related to the degree and location of lens opacity. Severe cataracts can cause blindness. Cataracts are divided into age-related (senile), traumatic, concurrent, metabolic, toxic, radiation, developmental and secondary cataracts according to their causes.

1. Avoid strong ultraviolet light ,

As the saying goes, "If you can't afford to offend, you can afford to avoid it." Strong light, especially ultraviolet rays from sunlight, can cause serious damage to the lens. The longer the exposure time, the greater the possibility of developing cataracts. To avoid exposure to strong sunlight, you need a wide-brimmed hat and a pair of dark sunglasses to block ultraviolet rays when going out, especially when traveling or swimming.

2. Avoid dehydration

The lens inside the eye is also a living structure that is constantly metabolizing. Water plays an important role in its metabolism and maintaining transparency. Lack of water in the elderly is one of the reasons why the lens becomes cloudy. Therefore, develop a habit of drinking plenty of water, both plain water and tea; it is best to buy a fruit juice machine and make your own fresh juice, which not only replenishes water but also vitamins. Pay special attention to prevent diarrhea, vomiting, and excessive sweating, which will cause dehydration and be harmful to the crystals.

3. Protein supplement

The cornea, lens and retina of the eye need protein and vitamin A. Deficiency of them can cause corneal diseases, cataracts, night blindness and other eye diseases. Gradually develop the habit of eating lean meat, fish, and eggs, and eat more milk and soy products; because the protein in them is rich and of high quality; in addition to regularly supplementing cod liver oil pills, you should also often eat chicken liver, lamb liver, pork liver, carrots, garlic leather, coriander, rapeseed, spinach and other edible oils, because vitamin A must be dissolved in fat to be absorbed.

4. Don’t forget trace elements

Some trace elements in the body, such as zinc, cadmium, and selenium, which are less than one ten-thousandth of body weight, are also involved in the synthesis of various substances in the eyes, and their regulation of physiological functions cannot be ignored. Zinc deficiency affects the function of vitamin A and can also cause retinal rhodopsin synthesis disorders and weakened dark adaptation. Foods rich in zinc include oysters, lean meat, etc.; when cadmium is insufficient, it will affect the insulin regulation function, increase blood sugar, and cause the osmotic pressure of the aqueous humor of the lens to increase, and the refractive index includes beef, semolina, mushrooms, grapes, etc.; selenium is involved in the activities of the eye muscles and pupils, and is an important element for maintaining vision. Daily intake will be affected. Foods rich in selenium include fish, poultry, cabbage, radish, garlic sprouts, etc.; molybdenum is an important nutrient that makes up the iris of the eye. Foods rich in molybdenum include radishes, soybeans, lentils, etc.

5. Aspirin joins the competition

The amino acid levels in patients with senile cataracts are often elevated, among which tryptophan is the only amino acid that can bind to plasma proteins. Tryptophan and its metabolites combine with lens proteins to become brown-yellow substances that are deposited in the lens, forming cataracts. Aspirin competes with tryptophan and binds to crystallin, thereby reducing the level of tryptophan in the lens. I used to have the habit of taking small doses of enteric-coated aspirin. Now I have increased the dosage a little bit, to less than 100 mg per day. It does not cause gastrointestinal symptoms and can achieve the purpose of preventing and treating cataracts and blood viscosity at one stroke.
