What is called a benign tumor

Many friends went to the hospital for check-ups and were diagnosed with tumors, which made them very worried. However, if the tumor is benign, doctors will generally say not to worry and it can be selectively removed. Because it won't endanger life. However, many friends do not know what benign tumors are, so they often feel very worried, fearing that their lives may be in danger. Let us now understand what benign tumors are.

Benign tumor refers to the abnormal proliferation of cells in certain tissues of the body. It grows in an expansive manner, gradually expanding like a balloon, and grows relatively slowly. As the tumor continues to grow, it may squeeze the surrounding tissues, but does not invade the adjacent normal tissues. The tumor is mostly spherical or nodular. A capsule is often formed around the tumor, thus clearly demarcating it from normal tissue. It can be moved by touching and pushing. It is easy to remove cleanly during surgery, does not metastasize after removal, and rarely recurs.

Although benign tumors do not threaten the patient's life like malignant tumors, they can affect the normal function of the lesion site. Moreover, some benign tumors may become cancerous if the condition is not effectively controlled, so they should also be taken seriously.

Benign tumors can generally be treated with surgery. The principle is to completely remove the tumor. It must be removed outside the capsule. When conditions permit, a small amount of normal tissue outside the capsule should be removed at the same time. Pathological examination must be performed after the operation to make a clear diagnosis and prevent misdiagnosis of malignant tumors.

I believe that after reading the above content, everyone has a certain understanding of what benign tumors are. Tumors are generally divided into malignant tumors and benign tumors. Malignant tumors can seriously endanger your health, but benign tumors will not. Therefore, generally benign tumors can be selectively removed, but it is generally recommended that if there is a benign tumor in the body, it is better to remove it, because medically the possibility of benign tumors turning into malignant tumors cannot be ruled out.
