What should I do if I have right upper lobe bronchiectasis?

Bronchiectasis is a relatively common disease, the main cause of which is obstruction and infection of the lungs. Nowadays, air pollution is serious, and everyone's pace of life is accelerating. There is no time for exercise, and resistance is reduced. The bodies of the elderly and children are also very weak. Once the disease is discovered, treatment should be sought as soon as possible, but generally speaking, drug treatment is not very effective. So, what should you do if you suffer from right upper lobe bronchiectasis?

First of all, you need to control the infection, don’t exert yourself, avoid severe coughing, and keep warm. Severe cases require surgical treatment. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital's respiratory department for regular treatment. Eat less fried, grilled, spicy and other hot foods to avoid dryness of the lungs. Drink more water during the dry seasons of autumn and winter. Pay attention to preventing colds and respiratory tract infections in daily life. Control infection and relieve symptoms. Symptoms may come and go, sometimes mild and sometimes severe. When using internal medicine medication, you must consider when to use it, what medicine to use, and how to use it. If there is no fever, the cough has not worsened, as long as there is sticky sputum and no obvious discomfort, there is no need to use antibiotics. If the sputum is purulent (often after an upper respiratory tract infection), use broad-spectrum antibiotics for at least 2 weeks until the sputum becomes mucous.

Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs must be used to control infection. You can do a drug sensitivity test or a sputum test plus a drug sensitivity test for analysis. Symptomatic treatment is required. Aggressive intravenous fluid therapy is required. Pay attention to rest and control infection (especially after surgery, once the surgical area is infected, the consequences are serious). Sputum Gram staining and sputum culture can be used to guide the use of antibiotics to improve airflow limitation: bronchodilators such as salbutamol, terbutaline, epinephrine, etc. can improve airflow limitation and help eliminate secretions, with obvious therapeutic effects.

The treatment of bronchiectasis is generally done with postural drainage and expectorants. Patients with bronchiectasis generally have more thick sputum, and severe patients may also cough up blood. During treatment, care should also be taken to prevent other complications.

If drug treatment of bronchiectasis is not ideal, then surgical treatment is necessary. First of all, we must ensure that the patient's physical condition meets the requirements of the surgery. Then surgical resection can be used for treatment. Patients should rest after surgery. If tuberculosis is complicated by bronchiectasis, it will be difficult to cure with just medication or one treatment method. It is best treated with a combination therapy approach.

Patients must pay attention to their diet. Improper diet can easily aggravate the condition. Do not eat fatty meat, eat less salt and do not eat greasy and fried food. If you eat greasy food for a long time, it will cause airway obstruction, produce phlegm, and poor ventilation. Don't eat fish and shrimp, as these foods are very likely to cause allergies. Also try to eat less protein-rich foods.
