What causes aplastic anemia?

Aplastic anemia is mainly caused by the damage of the human body's hematopoietic function. Therefore, the function of hematopoietic stem cells in patients with aplastic anemia will be significantly weakened, and they are often prone to symptoms such as bleeding, infection, and anemia. The impact on the human body is very large, and the causes of this type of disease are also relatively numerous. Let us learn about it below!

The onset of aplastic anemia may be related to the following factors:

1. First of all, the influence of drugs is the most common factor causing aplastic anemia.

2. Benzene and its derivatives in chemical poisons can block the process of the separated double helix structure of DNA molecules from disintegrating and binding to RNA, inhibiting its synthesis. Moreover, benzene, as a chronic poison, will slowly penetrate into the bone marrow after attaching to it, causing poison to the bone marrow. While blocking the binding of genetic factors in hematopoietic progenitor cells, it also damages chromosomes, increasing the uncertainty of chromosomal mutations.

3. Ionizing radiation. Radiation with strong penetrating power and high radioactivity is highly lethal to human cells and the human microenvironment. Long-term exposure may lead to aplastic anemia.

4. Viral infection. Research has found that aplastic anemia is a complication of viral hepatitis.

5. Genetic factors. There are some factors that cannot be avoided except doing genetic testing before deciding to have a baby and not having the baby if problems are found, such as aplastic anemia caused by some familial recessive genetic diseases.

Aplastic anemia will cause hematopoietic dysfunction, so we must prevent the above factors in our daily life. The above factors are one of the important causes of aplastic anemia, so we must pay attention to them. Patients with aplastic anemia should also eat more blood-enriching foods, such as red dates, which they should eat regularly.
