How is ascites in advanced liver cancer treated? Introduction to the treatment of ascites in advanced liver cancer

Ascites treatment is actually a treatment for advanced liver cancer. When choosing a treatment, the doctor will consider the patient's physical condition. Using ascites treatment can also have a good therapeutic effect, and it can be combined with traditional Chinese medicine if necessary.

Controlling the primary lesion is the key to treating ascites caused by liver cancer. When treating ascites, attention should be paid to the treatment of the primary liver cancer. Only by treating at the same time can the regeneration of accumulated water be suppressed. First of all, the focus should be on extracting ascites. By extracting ascites, the patient's symptoms can be quickly improved, but it is easy to relapse and the treatment is not thorough. Clinically, while extracting ascites, some addictive drugs are infused into the chest cavity, such as anticancer drugs, sclerosants, immunomodulators, etc., to directly kill cancer cells and slow down the production of ascites caused by liver cancer. However, the treatment effect of this type of liver cancer ascites is poor, and it will bring great toxic side effects to patients. It only treats the symptoms but not the root cause. Therefore, clinically, combined treatment plans with surgery, chemotherapy or autologous immune cell therapy are often advocated.

1. Ascites reinfusion treatment: The late stage of liver cirrhosis ascites is treated with a special device to extract the ascites, treat it, concentrate it, and then transfuse it to the patient. The advantage is that it overcomes the situation where protein is lost due to simple ascites drainage. The disadvantage is that the late stage of liver cirrhosis ascites will require multiple abdominal punctures, increase the chance of infection, and easily cause bacterial peritonitis. Treatment of small amount of ascites: The late stage of liver cirrhosis ascites should pay attention to bed rest and low-salt diet.

Symptoms of late-stage liver cirrhosis and ascites: Appropriately limit water intake (daily water intake is about 1 to 1.5L). Reasonable nutrition, enhanced liver protection treatment, regular examination of liver function, kidney function and blood electrolytes, and appropriate supplementation of albumin and plasma for hypoproteinemia, so as to eliminate some ascites.

2. Drug treatment for late-stage liver ascites: For patients with late-stage liver cirrhosis ascites who have not been effectively treated with measures such as rest and salt restriction, the use of a combination of Chinese and Western medicine should be considered. In Western medicine treatment, water and sodium excretion can be promoted to reduce ascites, which can inhibit the kidney's absorption of sodium and chloride and excrete potassium at the same time. At present, in the treatment of late-stage liver cirrhosis ascites, it is advocated to use a combination of Chinese and Western medicine, internal conditioning treatment, fundamentally eliminate the inducing factors of ascites, and then play a comprehensive prevention and treatment role, which is very beneficial to the long-term efficacy of liver ascites, and also greatly reduces the recurrence rate of liver ascites.
