Melanoma of scalp

Melanoma of scalp

Scalp melanocytic nevus, like other moles, can appear on any part of our body. Although there are dense hair on the head, some careful people have discovered melanocytic nevus on their scalp. The appearance of scalp melanocytic nevus can make people feel very confused. We can learn as much as possible about melanocytic nevus and take some measures to eliminate it. Let’s take a closer look below.

Melanoma is a group of benign melanocytes that gather at the junction of the epidermis and dermis. Melanocytes may be distributed in the lower part of the reticular dermis, between connective tissue bundles, around other skin appendages such as sweat glands, hair follicles, blood vessels, nerves, etc., and occasionally extend to subcutaneous fat.

Causes

Ultraviolet rays are a major cause of melanin formation. In daily life, if you do sun protection while performing whitening care, you can effectively inhibit the formation of melanin. Because during whitening care, the melanin that has already been produced can be slowly eliminated, and sunscreen can help the skin inhibit the production of new melanin. By using good sunscreen products to protect the skin's basal layer and dermis from damage by ultraviolet rays and not stimulating the activity of tyrosinase, the production of melanin can be inhibited. The slow alternation of new and old cuticles is also one of the reasons for the formation of melanin. Therefore, regular exfoliation is very helpful for whitening the skin. The acidic substances added to many whitening products can help peel off aging cuticles and remove melanin.

Prevention and treatment

You can also improve your skin tone through diet. For example, drink plenty of water, eat more vegetables and fruits, increase the intake of antioxidant foods, and consume more foods rich in vitamin C. Chemical experiments have shown that the series of reactions that form melanin are mostly oxidation reactions, but when vitamin C is added, the formation of melanin can be blocked. Therefore, eat more foods rich in vitamin C, such as sour jujube, fresh jujube, tomatoes, sea buckthorn, citrus, fresh green leafy vegetables, etc.

Medically, melanocytic nevus is a benign tumor and generally does not require treatment. For patients who want to remove melanin nevus, it is best to choose a dermatologist for treatment, which is more reliable. Commonly used treatment methods include surgical resection, laser therapy, and radiofrequency knife resection.
