Artificial conception process

Artificial conception process

Artificial insemination is a technology that helps infertile couples to have children. The emergence of artificial insemination technology has enabled many childless women to successfully conceive. For most couples, if they have been preparing for pregnancy for about a year and have not gotten pregnant, or if there is an abnormality in the health of either the male or the female, resulting in the inability of sperm and egg to combine normally, artificial insemination is usually required to conceive.

What is the artificial insemination process?

1. Consultation:

Both husband and wife need to go to the hospital to communicate with the doctor to understand whether their physical condition meets the indications for in vitro fertilization, and conduct a preliminary assessment and analysis of the woman's ovarian function and the man's sperm status.

2. Preoperative examination:

Couples who meet the indications for in vitro fertilization need to undergo a systematic and comprehensive physical examination before assisted conception. If you suffer from factors that affect the success rate of IVF, you need targeted conditioning or treatment. After the couple's fertility conditions reach an ideal state, an appropriate IVF plan will be developed and the treatment cycle will officially begin.

3. Ovulation induction:

Egg quality is one of the key factors affecting the success rate of in vitro fertilization. The doctor will determine a personalized ovulation induction plan based on the woman's age, ovarian reserve function, etc., and make timely adjustments based on the patient's response to the drug to achieve the goal of obtaining high-quality eggs.

4. Egg retrieval:

When B-ultrasound monitors that the follicles are mature, eggs can be retrieved. Currently, the most effective way to retrieve eggs is through the vagina under intravenous anesthesia. The whole process is quick and painless, which is very suitable for female patients who are afraid of pain. Observe for 2 hours after egg retrieval. If there is no special situation, you can go home. If there is bleeding or abdominal pain, you need to stay in the hospital for observation.

5. In vitro embryo culture:

After the egg is taken out, it is placed in culture medium and combined with the washed sperm to form a fertilized egg, waiting to be transplanted. If the man suffers from severe oligozoospermia, asthenozoospermia, or teratozoospermia, intracytoplasmic sperm injection is required to help the sperm enter the egg to complete fertilization.

6. Embryo transfer:

Patients who have no abnormalities after egg retrieval can arrange for transplantation three days later. The specific situation will be arranged by the doctor. The transplantation process only takes a few minutes and generally does not require anesthesia. The patient will feel slight pain. If the mother's endometrium is not suitable for transplantation, the embryo will be frozen and thawed and transplanted at the appropriate time.

7. Pregnancy test on the 14th day:

After transplantation, luteal support is performed and the patient is sent to the hospital on the 14th day for HCG blood test to detect whether the embryo has implanted. If the pregnancy is successful, the IVF treatment will come to an end and the patient will be transferred to another hospital to start the pregnancy period. If implantation fails, luteal support will be stopped, the cause of implantation failure will be found, the body will be recuperated, and preparations will be made for the next transplant.
