What's wrong with my right eyelid twitching

There are many superstitious beliefs among the people about the symptom of right eyelid twitching. The superstitious saying that the left eye twitching means good fortune, while the right eye twitching means disaster is deeply rooted in people's minds. But the actual result is not so, these superstitious statements will always affect people's thinking. In daily life, we should learn to use science to explain the symptoms that occur. These symptoms are often manifestations of neurasthenia.

We can't simply attribute eyelid twitching to our luck. The medical explanation is that we often overuse our eyes in daily life, which causes visual fatigue. We should also avoid transitioning between strong light and soft light, as this can also be harmful to the eyes.

According to medical experts, eyelid twitching occurs more frequently when one is over-tired, uses the eyes for too long or does not get enough sleep. Other factors such as strong light, stimulation from drugs, foreign objects blown into the eyes, frequent smoking and drinking, etc. can irritate the eyes and cause eyelid twitching. It should also be noted that eyelid twitching is also a warning sign for human health, especially when it comes to brain nerves.

There are two kinds of muscles in the human eyelids. One is called the orbicularis oculi muscle, which is shaped like a wheel and surrounds the eye. When it contracts, the eyelid will close. This orbicularis oculi muscle is controlled by the facial nerve. Another eyelid muscle, the levator palpebrae superioris, contracts to open the eyelid; this muscle is controlled by the oculomotor nerve.

Of the two types of eyelid muscle tissue, the orbicularis oculi muscle plays an important role in protecting the eyeball. It can lubricate and clean the cornea through continuous closure and respond protectively to any external stimulation.

Many people have experienced physiological eyelid twitching. The attacks are transient and intermittent, and the attack time is very short, often only a few seconds, and the degree of twitching is not serious. It is mostly caused by lack of rest, fatigue or eating irritating food and drugs. This kind of eyelid twitching does not affect your health and has nothing to do with good or bad luck. It does not require medical treatment. If necessary, you just need to close your eyes and rest for a while, gently massage the pulsating point with your hands, or apply hot compress, and pay a little attention to your diet, and it will disappear automatically.

Nowadays, high technology is quite popular, and many people are accustomed to facing computers for a long time, which is a huge harm to the eyes. We should learn to protect our eyes properly. For example, common eye exercises can effectively relieve visual fatigue. If you find that your vision is declining, you should promptly identify the factors around you.
