Grape seed extract

Grape seed extract

Speaking of grape seed extract, I believe everyone is not clear about what it is. In fact, grape seed extract is one of the health products with significant therapeutic effects. Its main function is to regulate blood lipids well and prevent cardiovascular diseases to a certain extent. It can also effectively prevent diseases such as constipation. However, some people may experience certain side effects when taking grape seed extract. So what are the side effects of grape seed extract?

In fact, the main ingredient in grape seed extract is antioxidant, so it has excellent antioxidant effects and can promote the regeneration of liver cells in the human body. In addition, grape seed extract is an excellent health product for diabetic patients. So what are the side effects of grape seed extract?

Grape Seed Extract

Grape seed extract (also called serum) contains chemicals called polyphenols (including a subset of proanthocyanidins) that are considered potent polyphenol antioxidants.

Main Function

1. Regulate blood lipids, improve serum lipids, reduce blood viscosity, improve blood oxygen supply, prolong the life of red blood cells and enhance hematopoietic function, and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

2. It can enable the pancreas to secrete insulin normally and effectively transport glucose in the blood to the cells. It is a nutritional supplement for diabetic patients.

3. Emulsify fat, prevent and treat fatty liver, repair the liver poisoned by alcohol, promote liver cell regeneration and help restore liver function.

4. It can dissolve and prevent the deposition of cholesterol and bilirubin, keep the cholesterol in bile liquid, and prevent and dissolve gallstones.

5. Promote colon peristalsis, promote the patency of capillaries, send water out of the intestinal wall, lubricate the intestines and prevent constipation.

6. It can effectively remove free radicals and toxins in the body, prevent and reduce the occurrence of diseases.

Precautions

Not enough is known about how grape seed extract may affect a developing fetus or baby during pregnancy or breast-feeding.

side effect

In clinical studies, grape seed extract was associated with the following mild side effects: abdominal pain, cough, headache, nausea, and sore throat. Like any cooking oil, consuming large amounts of grapeseed oil may cause soft stools or oily gastrointestinal discharge.

Interaction

Grape seed extract might increase the time it takes for blood to clot. When used with antiplatelet drugs or anticoagulant drugs (including clopidogrel, ticlopidine, heparin, farin, and aspirin), the effects of the drugs may be enhanced, resulting in uncontrolled bleeding. Some of the most common herbal products that can inhibit blood clotting are: Danshen, David's Claw, Eleuthero, garlic, ginger (in large doses), Ginkgo, Horse Chestnut, Ginseng, Korean Ginseng, Papain, Red Clover, and Saw Palmetto.

In one small study, some individuals who took vitamin C and grape seed extract together experienced increased blood pressure. Individuals with hypertension should check their blood pressure more frequently when grape seed extract and vitamin C are used together, even if the increase in blood pressure is not significant. If blood pressure rises, vitamin C or grape seed extract or both may need to be stopped.

After reading the above introduction about grape seed extract, I believe everyone has understood it. Although the efficacy and effects of grape seed extract are very significant, clinical symptom studies have found that when taking grape seed extract, it may cause side effects such as abdominal pain and nausea. In addition, people with high blood pressure should not take grape seed extract, so everyone should pay attention.
