Seven ways to drink water in the healthiest way

Seven ways to drink water in the healthiest way

Many people's understanding of water is still limited to quenching thirst. In fact, there are many things to pay attention to when it comes to drinking safe and healthy water, especially in modern society where there are all kinds of concept water and water boiling containers. Here’s how to drink water correctly.

1. Boil your own water

Boiling your own water is convenient and saves money, but the only drawback is that the boiled water always has a smell, and you have to "fight" scale for a long time. How can we win this battle? Every time the water boils, it contributes to the scale on the bottom and walls of the pot. When poured into a cup, there will be a layer of white foam floating on the top, and it will also have a "strange taste" when you drink it, which is especially common in the north. In fact, this is all caused by too much calcium and magnesium ions in the water. This kind of water has a high mineral content and is vividly called "hard water".

2. Bottled water

Bottled water is appearing more and more in people's lives. You need to pay attention to the following three points when using it.

(1) Purified water mixed with boiled water

The most common bottled water is purified water and mineral water. Although the impurities and pollutants in purified water have been removed, this kind of water cannot be drunk for a long time. Because while the water is being purified, the minerals and trace elements that are beneficial to the human body are also removed from the water, making it especially unsuitable for the elderly and children to drink. Studies have shown that 30% of the calcium needed by children and the elderly comes from water. If they drink purified water for a long time, the absorption of this calcium will be insufficient, and the minerals already in the body will be excreted from the body along with the metabolism of purified water. The best way is to drink purified water with boiled water or mineral water to meet the body's needs for minerals.

(2) Consume within one week

The principle of bottled water is to draw water through air pressure. For every liter of water released, a corresponding liter of air must carry bacteria and dust into the body. Every time you change the water, some water will remain in the water tank, and a large number of microorganisms will be produced. Therefore, to be on the safe side, it is best to drink bottled water within a week. If there are fewer people at home, you can use a smaller bucket.

(3) Best drunk hot

Because the quality of bottled water varies greatly and the cleaning and disinfection of the buckets are not strict, the originally safe water becomes unsafe. Therefore, it is best to boil bottled water before drinking it, and choose big brands when purchasing.

3. Natural water is good water

Natural water has strict requirements on the water source. It must be surface water, spring water, or mineral water that meets international standards. The water extraction area must be quiet and free of any industrial pollution.

The raw water of natural water is also required to have a stable pH value (weak alkalinity), water temperature and a certain amount of mineral elements that are beneficial to the human body. In addition, high-tech production equipment is also a necessary condition to ensure that natural water is protected from secondary pollution during the processing process.

In short, the primary criteria for good water are that it contains certain mineral elements and has a weakly alkaline pH value (>7.0). These indicators are marked on the labels of bottled water.

4. The water in the water heater cannot be drunk

Some people, for the sake of convenience, often use water from the water heater to boil water and cook. This practice is extremely undesirable. Because the tap water entering the water heater will be subject to secondary pollution from the pipe network. Secondly, when the water in the water heater is heated repeatedly, the chlorine in the water that plays a disinfecting role will be reduced, providing favorable conditions for the growth of microorganisms and bacteria in the water tank and pipes. In addition, many communities now have a unified hot water supply. Most of this public hot water is provided to residents for bathing and does not meet the standards of drinking water. It is best not to use it for boiling water or cooking.

5. Run the faucet first when you wake up

The tap water in the faucet and nearby pipes that have not been used overnight may be contaminated by the metal pipe walls and attached bacteria, and is not suitable for brushing teeth, rinsing mouth, or boiling water for cooking. It is recommended to get half a basin of water in the morning before use (which can be used to flush the toilet, mop the floor, etc.). Be especially careful if your home is newly renovated or you are not often at home.

6. The water dispenser needs to be cleaned every two months

After being filtered through a water dispenser, the taste of tap water improves significantly, but some people save trouble and simply drink bottled water. No matter which one it is, if you want to keep the water quality healthy for a long time, regular cleaning of the water dispenser is the most important step.

The cleaning of filtered water dispensers mainly focuses on the filter. After being used for a long time, a lot of bacteria and microorganisms will accumulate, and even "moss" will grow. It is best to clean it every two or three months. "It is generally not recommended to disassemble and clean it yourself. You should ask a professional to do it. Otherwise, it is easy to damage the circuit, causing the water dispenser to stop working, and it will also cause electrical safety hazards." Lu Jianguo said that if your water dispenser can remove the entire filter, you must follow the instructions and rinse it repeatedly with clean water. The filter element is generally replaced every 1-2 years.

7. Choose a stainless steel electric kettle

Electric kettles are convenient and quick to boil water, but you also need to be careful when choosing and using them. First of all, you should buy products of high quality. It is best to choose stainless steel, which makes it safer to boil water. Second, when using an electric kettle to boil water, you must drink it at any time and add water at any time, because when the temperature drops to a certain level, it will heat up automatically. If a kettle of water is heated repeatedly, the water quality will not be very good.

In fact, the container is very important for the drinking safety of water. After the water boils, if you want to let it cool down, a glass cup is the safest, followed by a porcelain bowl or cup. It is best not to put boiling water in a plastic container, as it is not only easy to deform, but the harmful substances in it are also easily dissolved when exposed to heat.
