Can children's oral ulcers turn into cancer?

Mouth ulcers in children do not usually become cancerous, but if they recur or do not heal for a long time, you need to pay attention and consult a doctor. Mouth ulcers are more common in children and are usually caused by minor trauma or viral infections. They usually heal on their own within one to two weeks. However, if an ulcer lasts for more than three weeks, or recurs repeatedly, in rare cases, it may indicate a more serious health problem.

Most oral ulcers can be relieved by adjusting diet and improving oral hygiene. It is recommended to ensure that children take enough vitamin B12, folic acid and iron, as deficiencies in these elements may lead to ulcers. When ulcers occur, medications designed for oral ulcers, such as mouthwash containing chlorhexidine, can be used to speed up healing, and avoid eating too sour, spicy or hard foods to protect the oral mucosa.

If a child's oral ulcer is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes or weight loss, or if it does not heal for a long time, you should see a doctor in time to further distinguish whether it is a common ulcer or a more serious disease. At the same time, if the child is susceptible, pay attention to letting them maintain good oral hygiene and avoid mechanical damage to the oral cavity, which can also effectively prevent the occurrence and recurrence of ulcers. Regular visits to the dentist can also detect and prevent potential oral health problems early.
