Many times people are afraid of cancer, thinking that all tumors are incurable, losing confidence in treatment and missing out on treatment opportunities. There are many types of lymphoma. Many patients do not understand lymphoma, let alone the specific condition and symptoms of mediastinal lymphoma, as well as the survival time. So, how long can you live with mediastinal lymphoma? How is it treated?

How long can you live with mediastinal lymphoma?

Mediastinal lymphoma is a chronic, progressive, painless tumor of lymphatic tissue. Its primary tumor is mostly centrifugally distributed, originating from one or a group of lymph nodes, more commonly from the cervical lymph nodes, gradually spreading to adjacent lymph nodes, and then invading tissues such as the spleen, liver, bone marrow and lungs. Due to the different sites of disease occurrence, the clinical manifestations vary.

Surgery is not necessary for the treatment of mediastinal lymphoma, and complete resection is not possible. The main task of surgeons is to provide sufficient diagnostic tissue specimens to assist in pathological staging and to use appropriate surgical methods to obtain sufficient material for a better diagnosis through imaging examinations for masses with clear lesion ranges. Generally there are the following types: mediastinoscopic mediastinotomy, suprasternal incision, median sternotomy, and posterolateral standard thoracotomy.

Radiation therapy: It is divided into 3 types: local irradiation, incomplete lymph node irradiation and complete lymph node irradiation. Incomplete lymph node irradiation includes the affected lymph nodes and tumor tissue, as well as nearby lymph nodes that may be invaded; Chemotherapy: The most commonly used regimen is MOPP, nitrogen mustard, vincristine, procarbazine (methylbenzylhydrazine), and prednisone (prednisone). The prognosis of mediastinal lymphoma has improved significantly.

The question of how long a patient with mediastinal lymphoma can live cannot be generalized. First of all, each patient's immune function is different, and their tolerance to treatment methods is also different. Moreover, the treatment of mediastinal lymphoma is a systematic process involving many factors. In short, how long a patient with mediastinal lymphoma can live requires comprehensive consideration of the patient's own constitution, treatment methods and effects.
