Why can esophageal cancer be cured without treatment?

Clinically, there is no cure for esophageal cancer, and esophageal cancer generally cannot be cured without systemic treatment.

Esophageal cancer mainly refers to malignant tumors that occur in the esophagus. If appropriate treatment measures are not taken in time, tumor cells can continue to grow, causing the volume of tumor tissue to increase, and the patient's condition may continue to worsen and will not recover. In the early and middle stages of esophageal cancer, cancer cells have not invaded surrounding organs, and there is no lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis.

At this time, clinical cure can be achieved through surgical removal of the diseased tissue such as tumor resection and lymph node cleaning, followed by postoperative radiotherapy. If esophageal cancer enters the late stage, the cancer cells have spread and metastasized, and treatment is usually relatively difficult. Basically, it cannot be completely cured. Treatment can only delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life.

Patients with esophageal cancer should strictly quit smoking and drinking, reduce adverse stimulation of the esophageal mucosa, take warming measures, and avoid upper respiratory tract infections. Regular follow-up is recommended to help timely detect cancer cell recurrence or metastasis and take targeted treatment measures.
