What are the symptoms of late-stage osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is a disease that is common in people between the ages of 10 and 25. The youngest age of onset is around 5 years old. The disease is mainly concentrated in the knee joint of the human body. Men are about twice as likely to be affected as women. The disease generally occurs in the bone shaft, especially the lower end of the femur. The main symptoms of this disease can be divided into early stage, mid-term symptoms, late stage symptoms and metastatic symptoms. The following is a brief introduction to these symptoms.

What are the symptoms of advanced osteosarcoma?

First, the early symptoms. This disease can cause local pain, but it is often not easy to detect. And the pain duration varies. Some patients may have pain for a few days and then get better, but other patients may have pain for several years. The average pain duration is about 3 to 4 months.

When the disease reaches the middle stage, the symptoms manifest as pain, local swelling or functional impairment. The pain occurs intermittently, and the cortical bone is compressed by the tumor, which may eventually lead to dissolution or necrosis of the cortical bone. The patient has difficulty walking in the lower limbs, and the muscles atrophy due to disuse.

When the disease reaches the advanced stage, the above symptoms become more and more serious. The patient feels that the machine is unbearable and ordinary painkillers cannot relieve the patient's symptoms. The tumor further increases in size, which can also cause venous dilation, fever, weight loss, and general weakness.

Precautions

If the disease metastasizes, the symptoms will be more complicated, such as bone metastasis or lung metastasis. Metastasis usually occurs about half a year after the onset of the disease and must be taken seriously.
