Why do we need to draw blood to check for cervical cancer

By drawing venous blood for testing, we can find out whether the patient has infectious diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, and whether the liver and kidney functions are normal. When checking for cervical cancer, it is necessary to evaluate the patient's overall condition, so blood drawing will be required before the examination.

1. Infectious diseases: such as syphilis, gonorrhea, genital warts, etc. can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. If they are related to the occurrence of cervical cancer, it will affect the doctor's judgment and diagnosis of the disease, and may affect the formulation of treatment plans. Therefore, it is necessary to first clarify whether there is a related viral infection.

2. Sexually transmitted diseases: Some women have a history of unclean sex and have unprotected sex, which may lead to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, thereby increasing the risk of cervical cancer. At this time, the corresponding drugs should be given for anti-inflammatory treatment according to the specific type of pathogens, but improper use of drugs may cause the disease to persist or worsen, so it is also necessary to check before the examination to exclude infection.

3. Abnormal liver and kidney function: Since cervical cancer can cause symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, long-term and repeated vaginal bleeding can lead to anemia and other conditions, and in severe cases, hemorrhagic shock. In addition, lung metastasis, bone metastasis and other phenomena may also occur, and even endanger life safety. Therefore, various basic tests should be performed before and after the operation to ensure that the body is in good condition and can tolerate the trauma of the operation. Among them, liver and kidney function is particularly important, because most cervical cancers require radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery. Such treatments will cause damage to the liver and kidneys. If you already have liver and kidney diseases, it is more likely to aggravate the original lesions and even affect survival time.

In addition to the above factors, it is also necessary to consider whether the patient can tolerate anesthesia before surgery. Generally, there is no need to worry too much, just follow the doctor's instructions and actively cooperate.
