Thyroid cancer will not metastasize to the armpit

Thyroid cancer will not metastasize to the armpit

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that may metastasize to the armpit through lymph node metastasis, hematogenous metastasis, etc. However, in general, the probability of distant metastasis of thyroid cancer is low, and the probability of metastasis is related to the pathological type of thyroid cancer.

1. Papillary carcinoma: Papillary carcinoma is a common pathological type of thyroid cancer, accounting for about 60%-70% of thyroid cancer. This type of thyroid cancer generally does not metastasize to distant sites or the armpit.

2. Follicular carcinoma: Follicular carcinoma accounts for about 15%-20% of thyroid cancer. The probability of distant metastasis in such patients is relatively high, but the probability of axillary metastasis is relatively low;

3. Medullary carcinoma: Medullary carcinoma accounts for about 5%-10% of thyroid cancer. Because medullary carcinoma has secretory function, it is prone to lymph node metastasis and hematogenous metastasis. The axillary lymph nodes are abundant, so the axillary is also one of its common metastatic sites;

4. Undifferentiated cancer: Undifferentiated cancer accounts for about 5% of thyroid cancer. Because undifferentiated cancer cells have strong proliferation ability, they are prone to distant metastasis, and the armpit is also one of its common metastatic sites.

For patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer, surgery is the main treatment, supplemented by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatment measures. In addition, patients are advised to maintain good living habits in their daily lives and avoid overwork, staying up late and other bad behaviors.
