Lung cancer in the late stage cannot be treated by surgery. How to treat it in the later stage

If patients with advanced lung cancer have lost the opportunity for surgery, they can receive palliative treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. They can also prolong their survival through targeted drug therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy.

1. Palliative care

1. Radiotherapy: For brain metastases of small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, radiation can be used to kill tumor cells and thus control the progression of the disease;

2. Chemotherapy: Patients with advanced lung cancer can also use molecular targeted drugs such as gefitinib tablets and erlotinib hydrochloride tablets for treatment according to the doctor's advice, or use chemical drugs such as cisplatin injection and carboplatin injection for systemic chemotherapy, which can kill cancer cells and relieve discomfort symptoms;

3. Targeted drug therapy: such as bevacizumab injection, cetuximab injection, etc., which help block the angiogenesis pathway and reduce tumor blood supply, thereby achieving the purpose of inhibiting tumor growth;

4. Immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy: such as pembrolizumab injection, nivolumab injection, etc., which can bind to the PD-1 receptor, promote T lymphocyte activation, enhance the body's ability to recognize tumor cells, and eliminate tumor cells.

2. Other methods

In addition to the above treatments, appropriate treatments can be selected according to the patient's actual situation, such as lung transplantation or thoracentesis to alleviate the symptoms of dyspnea, and nutritional support to improve physical condition and quality of life.

Patients with advanced lung cancer are advised to maintain a good attitude and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment to prolong their life. They should also pay attention to a balanced diet and exercise appropriately to promote good health.
