If castration treatment is performed at the same time after radical prostatectomy, the serum PSA value should be lower than 0.2ng/mL. After radical prostatectomy, the PSA remaining in the blood needs a period of time to be completely metabolized from the body, and it is not possible to reach this value immediately after surgery. The normal first PSA test should be between six weeks and three months after surgery. If the PSA value is found to be relatively high during the test, it means that there is residual PSA tissue in the body, and there is a high possibility that there are residual prostate cancer lesions, and further examination is needed. If the value remains below 0.2ng/mL after endocrine therapy and surgery, it means that the control is relatively good. If the PSA value is between 0.2-0.4ng/mL, dynamic rechecks are required. If it remains between these values and does not increase further, regular observation is possible. If it continues to increase, it may be a recurrence of prostate cancer or a distant metastasis, which requires further examination and treatment. |
