Does long-term alcoholism easily lead to liver cancer? Don't eat these moldy foods that are prone to liver cancer

Although technology is advanced, we are still helpless against cancer. There are many types of cancer, and liver cancer is one of them. Many people die of liver cancer every year. Everyone is curious about the cause of liver cancer. What is the cause of liver cancer? Here is a brief introduction to this question.

What are the causes of liver cancer?

The main causes of liver cancer (liver malignancy) in China are viral hepatitis infection, aflatoxin contamination in food, and contaminated drinking water in rural areas.

1. There are at least A, B, C, D, E, and G types of hepatitis viruses. The relationship between viral hepatitis and liver cancer (liver malignant tumors) is mainly between hepatitis B and hepatitis C, namely HBV and HCV. About 1/3 of patients with liver cancer (liver malignant tumors) have a history of chronic hepatitis. The positive rate of Australia antibody (HbsAg) is significantly higher than that in low-incidence areas. It has been found that hepatitis C virus infection, like hepatitis B infection, is closely related to the onset of liver cancer (liver malignant tumors). Hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus are definitely one of the factors that promote cancer.

2. 50%-90% of liver cancer (liver malignant tumor) patients have liver cirrhosis. In recent years, it has been found that the proportion of hepatitis C virus developing into liver cirrhosis is no less than that of hepatitis B.

3. Animal experiments have shown that aflatoxin B1, a metabolite of aflatoxin, has a strong carcinogenic effect and is present in moldy corn, peanuts and other foods. In areas where food is seriously contaminated by aflatoxin B1, the incidence of liver cancer is also high. Nitrosamines, azo mustards, alcohol, organochlorine pesticides, etc. are all suspected carcinogens.

4. Some drinking water is often polluted by polychlorinated biphenyls, chloroform, etc. In recent years, it has been found that blue-green algae growing in ponds are strong carcinogenic plants that can pollute water sources. Parasitic diseases such as Clonorchis sinensis infection can stimulate bile duct epithelial hyperplasia and can lead to primary bile duct cancer.

5. Long-term alcohol abuse is the number one killer of liver damage. This is because after alcohol enters the human body, it is mainly decomposed and metabolized in the liver. The toxicity of alcohol to liver cells causes liver cells to have obstacles in the decomposition and metabolism of fatty acids, causing fat deposition in the liver and resulting in fatty liver. The more alcohol you drink, the more severe the fatty liver will be. It can also induce liver fibrosis and then cause cirrhosis. Secondly, eating moldy peanuts, corn and fried dough sticks cooked with gutter oil can also increase the incidence of liver cancer (liver malignant tumor) by 33% to 66%.

How to prevent liver cancer

There are many things that need to be done to prevent liver cancer. First of all, we must prevent hepatitis, use hepatitis vaccines to prevent hepatitis, and pay attention to the control of other transmission routes, such as diet, blood transfusion, injection, acupuncture, sexual contact, etc. are the top priorities for preventing hepatitis; secondly: animal experiments have shown that aflatoxin can induce liver cancer, and the content of aflatoxin is highest in moldy peanuts and corn. Therefore, do not eat moldy peanuts and corn; thirdly, river water sources are easily polluted, polychlorinated biphenyls, chloroform, algae, etc. are all strong liver cancer-promoting substances. Be sure to consume qualified water sources that have undergone regular disinfection procedures; finally: long-term excessive drinking, through ethanol itself and its derivative acetaldehyde, can cause repeated fatty degeneration, necrosis and regeneration of liver cells, leading to alcoholic liver disease and even cirrhosis, which greatly increases the incidence of liver cancer on this basis.
