Ovarian abnormalities account for a certain proportion of outpatient visits to gynecology departments. This disease can affect women's reproductive function, because normal ovulation is the material basis of human reproduction, and ovarian abnormalities can lead to ovulation disorders, which in turn lead to infertility accounting for about 30% of female infertility. Therefore, we should be vigilant about the symptoms of ovarian abnormalities, and make sure to detect and treat them as early as possible. Causes and symptoms of ovarian abnormalities Congenital ovarian dysplasia, also known as congenital gonadal dysgenesis or Turner syndrome, is caused by the lack of an X chromosome in women, which results in blocked germ cell migration or gonad formation. The symptoms of this disease are not obvious and only appear after puberty. Common symptoms include primary amenorrhea, uterine aplasia or dysplasia, breast aplasia, and sparse pubic and axillary hair. Patients are usually short, and their height rarely exceeds 150 cm after adulthood. Patients often have deformity symptoms such as shield chest, low back hairline, elbow valgus, and nipples located outside the mid-clavicular line. More than half of patients have loose neck skin. There are many types of ovarian abnormalities, which are mainly manifested in the following types: 1. Bilateral or unilateral ovarian hypoplasia Bilateral or unilateral ovarian dysgenesis, more common in the case of bilateral ovarian dysgenesis, often occurs due to sex chromosome aberrations. This disease is often accompanied by other congenital malformations, such as unilateral ovarian dysgenesis, often accompanied by ipsilateral fallopian tube dysgenesis, or even kidney loss, and a unicornuate uterus may also appear in the affected area. 2. Ectopic ovary Ectopic ovaries are caused by the ovaries remaining in the embryonic position after formation and not reaching the pelvic cavity. Ectopic ovaries are generally higher than normal ovaries, such as located near the kidneys or in the retroperitoneal tissue space, and are often accompanied by ovarian hypoplasia. If the ovaries descend too far, they may be located in the inguinal hernia sac. All ectopic ovaries have the tendency to develop into tumors, so they should be removed in a timely manner. 3. Extra ovaries Supernumerary ovaries refer to extra ovaries other than normal ovaries, which are usually far away from the ovaries. When the ovaries function normally, there are no clinical symptoms and they are only discovered during surgery. |
