What are the related examination methods for small cell lung cancer

What are the relevant examination methods for small cell lung cancer? There are now irresponsible and informal hospitals that make a variety of diagnoses. Therefore, some people who have small cell lung cancer do not go to the hospital for examination. So what are the relevant examination methods for small cell lung cancer? Let us find out.

1. Chest X-ray examination

It is the simplest, easiest and cheapest inspection method.

2. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

It is not as good as CT in detecting small lung lesions, but it can more clearly show the relationship between the tumor and large blood vessels. When determining whether there is intracranial metastasis, enhanced MRI is the first choice.

3. Sputum cytology examination

The positive rate is related to the location and size of the tumor, the quality of sputum, and whether there is concurrent infection. The detection rate of central lung cancer is higher, but it is difficult to determine the type, and it is currently not recommended.

4. Fiberoptic bronchoscope

The location, size and extent of bronchial infiltration of the tumor can be observed, and tissue can be obtained for pathological examination.

5. Ultrasound of superficial lymph nodes: SCLC is prone to metastasize to supraclavicular lymph nodes. Ultrasound scanning of the neck, supraclavicular nodes, axillae, etc. is performed to determine the stage of lymph node metastasis.

6. Whole body bone scan: If a whole body bone scan indicates areas of high metabolism, the patient's medical history should be carefully inquired and combined with MRI to determine whether it is metastasis.

Pay special attention to care

It is mainly aimed at long-term smokers over 40 years old, those who have smoked for more than 20 years, those who started smoking under 20 years old and smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day, those who are often exposed to coal smoke, coal tar and oil smoke, those who are exposed to excessive radiation (miners, etc.), those with chronic cough, blood in sputum and those with a family history of lung cancer. It is best for high-risk groups to have regular comprehensive physical examinations every year, and CT examinations if conditions permit. If symptoms such as irritating cough, bloody sputum and hemoptysis occur, they should go to the hospital for treatment in time.
