Is the cure rate of thyroid cancer high?

Does thyroid cancer have a high cure rate? When we suffer from any disease, we all hope to be completely cured so that we can be free from the troubles of the disease. But can cancer like thyroid cancer be completely cured? Does thyroid cancer have a high cure rate? Let's listen to the experts' analysis on this issue.

How high is the cure rate of thyroid cancer? According to experts, among malignant tumors, the prognosis of thyroid cancer is generally good. Many thyroid cancers have metastasized, but patients can still live for more than ten years. There are many factors involved in prognosis, such as age, gender, pathological type, scope of lesions, metastasis and surgical method, among which pathological type is the most important.

Different types of thyroid cancer have different cure rates. Even for thyroid cancer, the clinical manifestations and prognosis vary greatly due to their different types. For example, papillary thyroid cancer accounts for the vast majority of thyroid cancers, has a low degree of malignancy, a slow course of disease, and a good prognosis. Almost 90% of patients can survive for a long time after surgical treatment; follicular adenocarcinoma is prone to distant metastasis, has a moderate degree of malignancy, and has a poorer cure rate after surgical treatment than papillary adenocarcinoma; medullary carcinoma may sometimes present symptoms that are completely unrelated to the clinical manifestations of the disease, such as diarrhea, facial flushing and sweating, asthma, headache, etc. This is mainly due to the secretion of bioactive substances by cancer cells, and the cure rate is moderate; undifferentiated carcinoma mostly occurs in the elderly, with an average age of over 60 years old, and is characterized by a sudden increase in the mass in the front of the neck, and the rapid onset of symptoms such as dyspnea, dysphagia, and hoarseness, with poor treatment effects and a poor prognosis.

The cure rate of thyroid cancer is related not only to its different pathological types, but also to the choice of treatment methods. Conventional treatments for thyroid cancer include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Surgery is the most direct and effective treatment mode, which can remove the primary tumor to the maximum extent and avoid the large-scale growth and reproduction of tumor cells, which may lead to systemic metastasis.

For some thyroid cancer patients with a good prognosis, the cure rate is high after surgical resection. However, since the operation is more traumatic and some cancer cells are likely to remain after the operation, which will cause the recurrence and metastasis of cancer cells after the operation, corresponding auxiliary treatments are often required after the operation, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, to help kill residual cancer cells in the body and comprehensively inhibit the recurrence and metastasis of tumor cells. However, radiotherapy and chemotherapy themselves have their own limitations. They cannot remove tumor cells and will have great toxic and side effects on the human body, such as nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, bone marrow suppression, leukopenia and other symptoms, which will aggravate the patient's condition and cause damage to the human immune function.

Therefore, experts recommend that patients can combine autologous immune cell therapy to inhibit and kill tumor cells by increasing the activity of their own immune cells, regulating and enhancing the body's anti-tumor immunity, and activating and starting the body's immune tolerance mechanism.
