There are many common causes of glioma. Because the treatment methods corresponding to each cause are also different, in order to better understand the cause of glioma patients and implement targeted treatment, let me introduce to you what the cause of glioma is. 1. Origin of tumor: There is a theory that the cause of tumor is the embryonic remnant of primitive cells growing into tumors. These remnant cells can cause chronic proliferation due to inflammatory stimulation and form tumors. Multiple gliomas or gliomas may have more than one tumor. 2. Genetic Factors In humans, only a few types of nervous system tumors are related to heredity: neurofibroma, angioreticuloma and retinoblastoma have obvious family incidence tendency. These tumors often appear in several generations of a family. The residual and ectopic growth of embryonic primitive cells in the brain is also an important cause of the formation of intracranial tumors, such as craniopharyngioma, chordoma, dermoid cyst, epidermoid cyst and teratoma. Craniopharyngioma occurs in the epithelial tissue of the residual craniopharyngeal duct of the embryo in the brain, chordoma comes from the residual notochord tissue, epithelioid cyst and dermoid cyst come from skin tissue, and teratoma comes from the remnants of various embryonic tissues. 3. Biochemical environment: The levels of pigment oxidase, phosphokinase and ATP in glioma cells are lower than those in normal cells, but β-glucuronidase is higher than that in normal brain tissue. LDH is different from that in normal brain tissue due to the high metabolism of tumor tissue. 4. Physical factors of ionizing radiation: It has been confirmed that ionizing radiation can increase the incidence of tumors. The occurrence of tumors is the most serious long-term pathological change in humans and animals after exposure to radiation. Long-term exposure to radiation environments, such as X-rays, γ-rays, nuclear radiation, etc., will increase the chance of developing brain gliomas. 5. Nitroso compounds: With the progress of industrialization, this type of compound has become widely present in the environment we live in, especially produced in the process of food processing. 6. Bad living habits: such as being partial to certain types of food, drinking, smoking, etc. There is certainly not enough evidence to prove that these factors are related to the occurrence of glioma, but they have been confirmed to be related to the occurrence of gastrointestinal tumors and lung tumors. 7. Polluted air: It has been confirmed that not only the workers who work in air-polluted environment for a long time have a significantly increased risk of developing brain tumors (intracranial tumors), but also their children have a higher incidence of tumors than other children. These occupations are mainly related to papermaking, milling, handicrafts, printing, chemical industry, oil refining and metal smelting, mainly because there are a lot of hydrocarbon compounds in the air. |
