Why can't people with anemia drink milk

Anemia is a common phenomenon in many groups. This problem is mostly related to a person's physical constitution and bad eating habits. Of course, for anemia patients, there are many things they need to pay attention to in their daily diet, such as anemia patients cannot drink milk. So, why can't people with anemia drink milk? Below we will introduce you to the relevant knowledge about anemia in detail!

1. Common symptoms of anemia

Anemia can cause headaches, dizziness, insomnia and other discomforts. When anemia occurs, the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity decreases and the blood volume also decreases, and some neurological symptoms will appear, such as dizziness, tinnitus, headache, insomnia, nightmares, memory loss, and inattention. In addition, there are symptoms such as pale skin, increased heart rate, indigestion, spoon-shaped nails, and dry hair.

2. Why can't you drink milk if you are anemic?

Milk is rich in nutrients, but low in iron. Moreover, milk not only fails to supplement iron, but also reduces the iron content in the body. Therefore, friends with iron deficiency anemia cannot drink milk. Milk will cause the body to lose iron content, which is very harmful to patients with iron deficiency anemia.

3. Dietary taboos for anemia

1. Do not drink coffee

Because the polyphenols in coffee will form salts with iron that are difficult to decompose, inhibiting the absorption of iron. It is not suitable for patients with anemia. If you want a drink, it's best to replace coffee with orange juice.

2. Try not to drink tea

The inhibitory effect of tea on iron absorption is due to the fact that the tannic acid in tea leaves reacts with iron to form insoluble tannic acid iron in the digestive tract. This substance cannot be absorbed by the small intestinal mucosal epithelial cells, which hinders the absorption of iron. Iron deficiency in the human body will reduce hemoglobin synthesis in the body and aggravate anemia symptoms.

3. Limit fat

Eating too much fat can inhibit the body's hematopoietic function. At the same time, too much fat also affects the digestion and absorption of anemic patients. Therefore, the daily fat intake should not exceed 70 grams, generally about 50 grams is appropriate, and it is best to eat vegetable oils.

4. Do not eat garlic

Garlic contains more volatile substances. Eating too much will inhibit the secretion of gastric juice, reduce hemoglobin and red blood cells, and aggravate anemia.
