What harm does liver cancer do to the body

What are the harms that liver cancer brings to the human body? The importance of the liver to our body is well known. Once there is a problem with the liver, the normal functioning system of the whole body will also have problems. Therefore, liver cancer is very harmful to the human body. Once it is discovered, it needs to be treated in time to avoid delaying the disease and causing more serious consequences.

1. Digestive tract symptoms: Patients with liver cancer may experience decreased appetite and upper abdominal distension after meals. Flatulence, indigestion, nausea, and diarrhea are common digestive tract symptoms of liver cancer.
2. Acute abdomen: Rupture of cancerous nodules usually causes pain in the liver area. During physical examination, there is obvious tenderness in the liver area, which is a symptom of liver capsule irritation. After the rupture of cancerous nodules, some patients will experience acute abdominal pain accompanied by peritoneal irritation symptoms, which can be easily misdiagnosed as acute peritonitis.
3. Edema of lower limbs in the middle and late stages of liver cancer: Patients with liver cancer and ascites often have edema of lower limbs, which may occur at the ankles in mild cases and spread to the entire lower limbs in severe cases. The main reason is that ascites compresses the veins of the lower limbs or cancer thrombus blocks the venous return. Mild edema can also be caused by low plasma albumin.
4. Acute abdominal pain symptoms: After the cancer nodules rupture, some patients experience acute abdominal pain accompanied by peritoneal irritation symptoms, which can be easily misdiagnosed as acute peritonitis. Abdominal pain caused by the rupture of cancer nodules is usually accompanied by a drop in blood pressure or even shock. This is a relatively obvious hazard of liver cancer to the human body.
5. Bleeding tendency in late stage liver cancer: Liver cancer patients often have bleeding tendency such as gingival bleeding and subcutaneous ecchymosis. Gastrointestinal bleeding is also common, mainly due to portal hypertension leading to esophageal varices. In fact, gastrointestinal bleeding is also one of the main causes of death in patients with late stage liver cancer.
