Beware of the root cause of cervical spondylosis---partial cervical vertebra hyperplasia

As the name suggests, cervical vertigo is related to the neck and often occurs during activities, especially when the neck is twisted suddenly or flexed excessively. Sometimes it can also occur with slight activities, such as lying in bed or getting up, or even turning over at night. At this time, the patient will suddenly feel dizzy, even feel "heartbroken", vomit or even sweat profusely, and close his eyes and dare not move. Mild cases will heal in a few seconds; severe cases can last for several days or even longer.

Most patients are middle-aged and elderly people, and fewer are teenagers. Gender is not a big relationship. People of any profession may suffer from this disease, but it is more common in professions that require the neck to be fixed in one position, such as accountants, seamstresses, car drivers, and workers who need to stare at computer screens frequently.

If the cervical vertebra is often fixed in one position, it is easy to suffer from cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis is the growth of bone spurs in a certain part of the cervical spine. The bone spurs can compress or stimulate the vertebral artery passing through the cervical vertebra, causing it to contract, leading to temporary insufficient blood supply to the brain, and the above symptoms will appear at this time.

Although this disease is related to cervical spondylosis, it has little to do with the degree of hyperplasia, but is directly related to the location of the hyperplasia. In addition, bone spurs can cause edema of nearby tissues without direct compression or stimulation, and can also stimulate the vertebral artery and cause symptoms. Therefore, many patients with severe cervical spondylosis are not accompanied by cervical vertigo. On the contrary, there are patients with symptoms such as severe cerebral ischemia even though the hyperplasia is not obvious on X-ray cervical spondylosis.

If young people experience cervical vertigo, it is often caused by other reasons, such as atlanto-occipital malformation, cervical rib and other congenital malformations. In this regard, drugs that improve cerebral blood circulation should be given during treatment, such as drugs that dilate intracranial blood vessels, improve microcirculation, and eliminate brain edema, which can often achieve immediate results. It is well known that small bone spurs that have grown cannot be melted away by drugs, but since the edema of the surrounding tissues caused by small bone spurs can be reduced or eliminated, certain physical therapy methods can improve symptoms.

Regarding prevention, experts recommend that people should move their necks in all directions several times a day when they reach a certain age, so that the door hinges do not get worm-eaten. Try not to twist your neck suddenly, and do not look up for too long. For some jobs that require the head to be kept in a certain position for a long time, you should do regular work breaks and move your neck. When it is cold, you should pay attention to keeping your neck warm, because a cold neck is also one of the triggering factors. In addition, cervical spondylosis is also related to osteoporosis, so you should drink milk, get some sun, and take calcium supplements when necessary. Pillows are also related to this disease. The hardness of the pillow should be appropriate, not too high or too low. The height should preferably be from the ear to the outer edge of the shoulder on the same side, that is, when lying on your side, the neck should be kept in its original position without tilting.
