What are the differences between Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma are both tumor diseases of lymphatic tissue, both are malignant diseases, and both present as painless progressive enlargement of lymph nodes. They are very similar in clinical manifestations, but slightly different, and their pathological histology is not exactly the same.

1. Causes The causes are not clear, and they are all related to viral infections. However, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is related to heredity. There may be multiple cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in a family, 80% of which are siblings. This suggests that autosomal recessive inheritance mechanisms may be involved in the onset of the disease. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is also common in families with hereditary immunodeficiency. The risk of developing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma after organ transplantation is 10-100 times that of normal people. The chromosomes of patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma are often diploid, sometimes with hyperploid variations, and at least half of the patients have translocation of chromosome 14. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is more common due to radiation.

2. In pathology, Sprague-Dawley cells are a characteristic of Hodgkin's disease, not non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

3. Clinical ①Painless progressive superficial lymphadenopathy as the first symptom is common in Hodgkin's disease, but rare in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. ②Extranodal invasion is more common in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma than in Hodgkin's disease, especially diffuse histiocytic lymphoma, which often involves the gastrointestinal tract, bone marrow, central nervous system and chest. ③Fever is often persistent in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, while periodic fever or irregular fever is common in Hodgkin's disease. ④Itching is rare in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma but common in Hodgkin's disease. ⑤Local pain after drinking is common in Hodgkin's disease, but rare in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
