Three major symptoms of ovarian granulosa cell tumor

The patient was 27 years old, female. She suddenly had abdominal pain at 36 weeks of pregnancy and was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. After hospitalization, she underwent cesarean section and had her ovaries removed. Pathology showed: juvenile granulosa cell tumor. No medication was taken after the operation. Now she is in good health and has a good diet. What other treatments should be used?

The patient was diagnosed with juvenile ovarian granulosa cell tumor in the late pregnancy. The ovaries were removed by caesarean section to prevent further cancer. Her body was normal after delivery and she was treated with traditional Chinese medicine.

Ovarian granulosa cell tumor is the most common ovarian tumor with endocrine (estrogen-based) function, accounting for 1-2% of all ovarian tumors. It can occur at any age. According to statistics, the average age of onset is 52 years old, 60% after menopause, and the former is less than 5% during adolescence. There are often acute abdominal pain symptoms, and it is easy to relapse in the late stage. The diaphragm recurrence occurs 15 years after the primary tumor is removed and radiotherapy.

Symptoms of ovarian granulosa cell tumor:

1. Estrogen stimulation symptoms

If the tumor occurs in prepubertal children, most of them will show precocious puberty; in women of childbearing age, the endometrium will shed irregularly with the fluctuation of estrogen levels in the body, so about 2/3 of patients will have abnormal vaginal bleeding symptoms such as menorrhagia and prolonged menstruation. A small number of patients will also have persistent amenorrhea or irregular bleeding. In postmenopausal women, postmenopausal bleeding is a typical clinical symptom, and breast swelling, breast enlargement, and rightward shift of the squamous epithelium maturation index in vaginal smears will also occur.

2. Signs of masculinization

Due to the occurrence of luteinization of ovarian stroma and luteinization of follicular endometrial cells, a small number of patients experience masculinization phenomena such as infrequent menstruation, amenorrhea, hirsutism, enlarged clitoris, facial acne, and hoarse voice.

3. Abdominal mass

The average diameter of ovarian granulosa cell tumor is about 12 cm, which is generally medium in size. It can be felt during gynecological pelvic examination but is not easy to feel in the abdomen.
