Two major principles of TCM treatment of esophageal cancer

I am a 71-year-old male esophageal cancer patient in the middle and late stages of esophageal cancer. I am currently undergoing radiotherapy. The tumor is about 1 cm above the cardia, and the lymph nodes behind are swollen. I suspect it has spread. My physical condition is OK. I can only eat liquid food now, and I have lost 30 kg. I have tracheitis and mild emphysema. Gastroscopy showed gastric ulcers and gastric mucosal ulcers. How should I treat it?

The patient is relatively old and his esophageal cancer has reached the middle to late stages. In this case, conservative treatment is often recommended. It should be noted that radiotherapy should be combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment to enhance immunity, strengthen physical fitness, and improve quality of life.

In the process of esophageal cancer treatment, people gradually discovered that traditional Chinese medicine has certain advantages, such as focusing on adjusting the dysfunction of the patient's organs throughout the body during diagnosis and treatment, with the main research direction of improving the body's disease resistance, and no obvious toxic side effects. In the current diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer, the general principles of traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment are:

1. Diagnostic methods and judgment criteria: absorb and apply the research methods and judgment criteria of modern medicine.

2. For anti-cancer treatment of local cancer lesions, it is necessary to choose the correct treatment plan. Traditional Chinese medicine plays a role in adjusting the whole body and improving the quality of life of patients with esophageal cancer, and has been widely used clinically.

Although the preferred treatment for esophageal cancer is surgery and radiotherapy, supplemented by chemotherapy and conservative treatment with traditional Chinese medicine, the treatment plan supplemented by traditional Chinese medicine is relatively mature and most of them are effective. Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine have their own strengths in treating tumors, so the treatment of esophageal cancer must give full play to their respective advantages, insist on long-term treatment, relax the patient's psychological state, do a good job of psychological treatment, increase dietary nutrition, and improve the patient's immune function. In this way, better results can be achieved.
