Lung cancer has become another major killer of women

The study found that female lung tumor patients, like their male counterparts, may have a damaged gene that is often fatal and can promote the growth of genetically damaged tissue in the lungs containing tobacco smoke. Lung cancer patients were found to have K-ras gene mutations in the early stages of the disease, which may be undamaged genes after the patient's death. Damaged K-ras genes are present in 10% of all lung tumors. People with lung tumor genes without mutations: 70% of patients survive for more than five years.
