Will high heels make your calves thicker?

Every woman likes to wear high heels. Most women hope to receive a pair of high heels on their 18th birthday, which means they have become adults. High heels are also indispensable in some necessary occasions. For those petite girls, high heels can also satisfy their vanity to a certain extent. So, will wearing high heels often make your calves thicker?

Wearing high heels will not directly cause your legs to become thicker, but wearing high heels for a long time will cause leg muscle accumulation and destroy the leg lines. The gastrocnemius is a calf muscle that plays an important role in allowing people to stand upright and walk. When wearing high heels, the gastrocnemius muscle will be lifted up and kept in a state of tension for a long time during walking. The muscle strength will gradually increase. If this continues for a long time, the muscles on the calves will become noticeably prominent, destroying the beauty of the calves. Even if you gain fat on your legs, your legs will appear thicker.

Ways to wear high heels without making your calves thicker:

1. Wear less high heels. High heels below 7 cm are easier to control and less likely to fall.

2. Wear fewer stilettos. The heels should not be too thin to stabilize the center of gravity. It is recommended that the toe box be wider to reduce the pressure on the toes.

3. Pay attention to your standing posture. When standing, do not straighten your knees backwards. Instead, bend them slightly and move your body's center of gravity toward your heels. This reduces stress on your calves and knees. At the same time, slightly tighten your abdomen and buttocks to make the center of your body more stable.

4. Change your walking posture. When wearing high heels, you should change your walking posture. Lift your knees higher than usual, and put your heels on the ground first. Don't drag your feet.

Wearing high heels frequently can have a body-shaping effect, but walking in high heels frequently is different, because frequent walking itself will make the calves thicker, and walking in high heels will exercise the muscles, while also increasing muscle strain.

If you need to walk frequently, it is recommended not to wear high heels, low heels are better
