Dryness from nose to upper respiratory tract

Dryness from nose to upper respiratory tract

Dryness from the nose to the upper respiratory tract is a very common symptom of rhinitis, which is also called dry rhinitis. If there is a problem of dry rhinitis, it will cause certain pain to the patient and even affect his daily work and life. Next, I will introduce to you the causes, clinical manifestations, treatments and prevention methods of dry rhinitis.

1. Causes

Dry rhinitis is generally believed to be caused by long-term stimulation from external physical or chemical substances, such as long-term mechanical stimulation from dust, the effects of overheated and dry air, etc.

2. Clinical manifestations

The nose becomes dry, nasal secretions decrease, there is an itchy or foreign body sensation in the nose, often causing sneezing and a burning sensation, which often induces the patient to pick his nose and cause a small amount of nosebleeds. The sense of smell is generally not reduced. The mucosa of the anterior and inferior nasal septum is often eroded, and may have small thin scabs attached, which often bleed when removed.

Treatment

1. Eliminate the cause of the disease. Improve environmental conditions by reducing dust, lowering temperature, and ventilating the environment, and strengthen personal protection measures such as wearing masks and flushing the nasal cavity.

2. Topical application: oily nasal drops, such as compound peppermint oil, liquid paraffin or nasal ointment. Care should be taken not to use vasoconstrictors. You can use normal saline, liquid paraffin, diluted glycerin, etc. for intranasal drops. In addition, you can perform nasal irrigation once a day.

3. Take cod liver oil pills and vitamin B2 orally. Vitamin B2 can promote normal cell metabolism.

4. Take vitamin C orally. Vitamin C has a protective effect on the capillary walls.

5. Vitamin A helps epithelial recovery.

4. Prevention

1. Increase indoor humidity. You can use a humidifier or grow some plants indoors.

2. You can do nose massage every day. Use your thumb and index finger to pinch both sides of the root of the nose, and pull downwards with force, pulling from top to bottom. This method can promote blood circulation in the nasal mucosa, which is beneficial to the normal secretion of the nasal mucosa and keeps the nasal cavity moist.

3. Pay attention to quitting smoking and drinking, eat more vegetables, eat less spicy, fried and irritating foods, and keep bowel movements smooth.

4. When your nasal cavity feels dry, use oily nasal drops, such as compound peppermint oil, nasal ointment, etc.

5. Taking cod liver oil capsules or vitamin B2 in moderation can also be effective in preventing dry nasal cavity.
