Can activated carbon be reused?

Those used for industrial pollution removal can only be used once, while those used in aquariums can be used for a long time because of the limited pollution sources. After using it for a period of time, take it out, rub the surface adhesion, and soak it in hot water for a period of time before it can be reused.

Activated carbon is formed by the initial carbonization of carbon-containing materials, followed by high-temperature catalysis or activation in an activation furnace, and then acid washing and drying. Generally, activated carbon can be used for one month before being exposed to the sun and then used again. However, the overall adsorption capacity is constantly decreasing until the adsorption capacity is saturated, and it generally needs to be replaced once a year.

When exposed to the sun, you should also pay attention to the following three details:

1. It must be exposed outdoors (such as on a balcony) because the exhaled toxic gas must be discharged outdoors;

2. Do not expose to the sun after rain, as moisture will enter the carbon body;

3. When exposing the sun, be sure to lay moisture-proof plastic sheeting on the ground to prevent moisture on the ground from affecting the exposure effect.

When reusing activated carbon, it is generally recommended to avoid crowded places and indoors. In addition, we recommend that it is best to decide whether to reuse the activated carbon based on the different environments in which it is used.
