Pathological causes: some cholecystitis, gallbladder polyps, bile duct obstruction, cholestasis, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer, acute jaundice, chronic hepatitis, hemolytic jaundice, gallstones, pancreatic head cancer, etc. can cause high total bilirubin.

What to do if total bilirubin is high

1. Seek medical treatment as soon as possible. If the examination has concluded that the total bilirubin is high, you must go to the hospital for treatment regardless of the severity. The most common treatment method is blood transfusion. Infants and young children can be treated through blue light irradiation.

2. The patient himself should develop good work and rest habits. In addition to cooperating with the doctor's treatment, he must also ensure adequate sleep and regular work and rest time, strengthen physical exercise, and maintain a happy and optimistic mood.

3. Dietary adjustment. Pay attention to dietary adjustment. The diet should be light. Stay away from greasy and fried foods, and do not eat spicy and high-fat foods. At the same time, try to eat less or no homemade kimchi. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and more liver-protecting foods, such as dates, sesame seeds and nuts.
