How to use a disposable urine bag

In life, many patients have difficulty in moving after surgery, so they often need to urinate on the bed, which is very inconvenient to take care of. Therefore, some family members of patients will buy disposable urine bags for patients, because it is easier to change and wash, and the family members of patients are also more relaxed, or they will suffer less torture. So how to use disposable urine bags?

First of all, we need to understand the relevant information about urine collection bags. Urine collection bags are actually different from urine receiving bags. Generally speaking, urine collection bags are mostly used for patients who have undergone "ostomy" surgery. These patients may be patients with rectal cancer or bladder cancer. A hole will be opened in the patient's flank to remove the diseased area. During the recovery process of the operation, urine and feces will be unconsciously discharged from this opening, so a urine collection bag is needed.

As for the urine bag, it may be used by some patients who have difficulty going to the toilet, or simply have incontinence. The connection points of the two urine bags are different.

There are many urine collection bags on the market, such as ordinary urine collection bags, anti-reflux urine bags, mother-and-child urine collectors and waist urine bags. The most commonly used ones are still ordinary urine collection bags.

How to use urine collection bag:

1. First check whether the packaging is complete, whether there is any damage and the product expiration date;

2. Disinfect the catheter and connector;

3. Connect the catheter and the connector. Some urine collection bags may require you to connect one end of the catheter bag to the urine collector first, and some are originally integrated;

4. Some urine collection bags may have a stop valve, which should be kept closed at ordinary times and opened when urination is needed. However, some urine collection bags do not have this device.

5. When the urine bag is full, just open the switch or plug under the bag.

It is worth noting that when using a urine collection bag, the end of the drainage tube should always be lower than the perineum of the elderly to prevent backflow infection and harm to the patient.
