Symptoms of an incomplete abortion

Symptoms of an incomplete abortion

Artificial abortion is the most commonly chosen method of abortion for women after they become pregnant, because most artificial abortions are painless, which makes women feel very little pain. However, abortion must clean out the substances in the uterus, otherwise it may damage the uterus, and some may even lead to lifelong infertility. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of an incomplete abortion.

1. Symptoms of unclean abortion

1. Continuous bleeding and abdominal pain after abortion are typical symptoms of incomplete abortion. If the abdominal pain lasts for more than one week, it is a sign of incomplete abortion and the harm is very serious. Therefore, a clear diagnosis must be made. If the vaginal bleeding lasts for more than 10 days after abortion, you should go to the hospital for a follow-up examination to check whether the abortion is incomplete.

2. Incomplete abortion occurs. If the embryo remains in the uterus for a long time, it is easy to cause intrauterine infection and damage the endometrium, which will then cause fallopian tube occlusion and lead to infertility. Some women have undergone multiple curettage operations, and the uterine wall has become thinner or damaged. Once the dosage of medical abortion is not controlled well, it can easily lead to uterine rupture.

3. If the abortion is not clean, there will be heavy vaginal bleeding and severe abdominal pain within one month. If these two symptoms occur after the abortion, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. About one month after the abortion, it is recommended to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination to check the recovery of the uterus. If the abortion is not clean, you should undergo a uterine curettage as soon as possible to avoid increasing the chance of uterine infection and inducing infertility.

If the abortion is not clean, vaginal bleeding will usually be heavy and abdominal pain will worsen within a month. If these symptoms occur, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a B-ultrasound examination about one month after the abortion to check the recovery of the uterus and whether the abortion was complete. If the abortion is not clean, the uterus must be cleaned as soon as possible, otherwise it will increase the chance of adverse conditions such as uterine infection. Especially if the inflammation is severe, it is likely to cause female infertility.

2. What are the dangers of unclean abortion?

1. Uterine perforation

The greater the gestational age, the higher the risk; the more miscarriages, the greater the chance of perforation. Other conditions such as abnormal uterine position or shape or previous uterine surgery (such as cesarean section or myomectomy) all increase the chance of perforation.

2. Bacterial infection

If the instruments are not completely sterilized, or the surgeon himself does not pay attention to the aseptic process, it may cause intrauterine infection and even continue to spread upward to invade the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. In severe cases, it may result in ectopic pregnancy or infertility in the future.

3. Cervical injury

During the process of dilating the cervix, if you are not careful or the dilation speed is too fast, it is possible to cause damage to the cervix and make future pregnancies more likely to result in miscarriage, especially for women who are pregnant for the first time or have not yet given birth.

4. Cervical or endometrial adhesion

During uterine dilatation and curettage, if the scraping is too rough, causing injury or inflammation of the cervix or endometrium, it is possible to cause postoperative cervical or endometrial adhesions and cause menstrual abnormalities, such as amenorrhea or too little menstrual flow. In severe cases, infertility may occur in the future.

5. Incomplete miscarriage

If the operation is not performed completely, a small amount of fetal tissue will remain in the uterus, which may affect uterine contractions and cause continuous bleeding or cause adhesions, infections, etc. It is best to perform another careful surgery to remove the remaining tissue. Abnormal position or shape of the uterus is generally more likely to cause this sequelae.
