The difference between roses and Chinese roses

1. The difference between flowers

Judging from the color of the flowers, roses are relatively small and come in only a few colors, including purple, pink and white. Roses are large and come in a variety of colors, including white, red, pink, purple, yellow and green. The colors vary in depth, making it a riot of colour.

2. The difference between leaves

From the leaves point of view, the rose is composed of 7-9 leaflets forming pinnate compound leaves, and the leaflets are elliptical or oblong in shape, and are obovate, with acute or obtuse tips, blunt serrations on the edges, dull surface, sunken and wrinkled veins, and a little white powder and soft hairs on the back of the leaves. The leaves of roses are pinnately compound leaves composed of 3-5 leaflets, but the shape of the leaflets is broadly ovate or long ovate, round, with a pointed tip and serrated edges. They are hairless on both sides, with a smooth and shiny surface without any depressions or wrinkles.

3. Differences in stems

From the perspective of the stem, the rose stem grows upright and in clusters, with dense thorns and bristles on the stem, and dense hairs on the twigs. The stems of roses are upright, some may have thorns, some may not, but all are hairless, the thorns are hook-shaped, scattered and few.

The flowering periods of the two are different. For example, the flowering period of roses is from April to October in the north, and from March to November in the south. There are many more colors of roses than roses. The rose blooms in summer, and its color varieties are relatively few, the most common one seen is purple-red.

Another obvious point is the shape of their flowers. The petals of the rose are quite open, a bit like they are spread out. The petals of roses are relatively tight and closed.

And their scents are different too. Roses have a strong rose scent, so many perfumes and spices are made from roses. Most roses have no smell.
