What to do if there is a four-legged snake at home

The tetrapod is also what we often call a lizard. In fact, it itself is not harmful to the human body. As the name suggests, the tetrapod has four legs. But to humans, they are beneficial bugs. If you find their traces, you should show mercy and not kill them all. Generally speaking, they appear in relatively humid areas. Most will appear on walls. Let’s take a look at what to do if you have a gecko at home.

The four-legged lizard (grass green dragon lizard) is a reptile of the genus Dragon Lizard in the family Iguanidae. It is about 20 cm long and has a very long tail, which accounts for about 2/3 of its total length. The whole body is covered with scales. In mainland China, it is distributed in Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, Gansu, Guangxi and other places. It mostly lives in mountainous areas and moves in dry and hot river valleys. It is commonly found in sparse bushes and weeds on hillsides, in riverbanks or in cornfield grass. It is also seen in weeds beside mountain roads or highways, on house walls or beside vegetable fields. Its survival altitude range is 350 to 3450 meters.

The total length is about 21 cm. The whole body is covered with keratinous fine scales arranged in a shingle-like manner, with bony plates distributed under the scales; the scales are thin and smooth, with 24 to 26 rows. The tip of the snout is round and convex, with a pair of nostrils and no postnasal scales; the eyes are located on both sides of the head with a wide distance between them; the tongue is short and slightly forked. The back of the body is clay-colored, usually with three longitudinal light gray lines; the edges of the scales are light gray, giving it a reticular pattern. The limbs are well developed, with 5 fingers on the forelimbs and 5 toes on the hind limbs, and there are hooked claws on the ends of the fingers and toes. The tail is slender with a sharp end. It is easy to break but can regenerate after breaking. It lives in the grass in the mountains and crawls quickly. Distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and the areas to its south.

Those that enter the house generally need to be caught and released. To prevent this, you can knock on the doors and windows before opening them. They will be frightened and run away. In addition, geckos have a good sense of smell and do not like pungent smells.
