The difference between heat stroke and gastroenteritis

In the hot summer, because the weather is too hot and humid, many people will eat cold drinks, drink ice water, and eat ice cream, and then they will feel particularly cool. However, eating these cold things will cause gastrointestinal diseases, and gastrointestinal diseases will cause vomiting and dizziness, which are very similar to the symptoms of heatstroke. Many people don’t know whether they have heatstroke or gastroenteritis. So today, let’s take a look at the difference between heatstroke and gastroenteritis with the editor.

The symptoms of heatstroke range from mild to severe. At the beginning, there are only symptoms such as headache, dizziness, thirst, sweating, weakness and soreness in the limbs, inattention, and incoordination. Only after the condition worsens will there be symptoms such as palpitations, severe headache, nausea and vomiting, irritability, cold and clammy skin, pale complexion, low blood pressure, fainting or confusion. No diarrhea symptoms will occur. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea; fever and other symptoms are often accompanied by abdominal cramps and colic, fever, and sweating. Loss of appetite, upper abdominal discomfort and pain, belching, heartburn, etc. Treat symptomatically.

What are the early symptoms of heat stroke?

1. Symptoms of heat stroke are: heavy sweating, thirst, obvious fatigue, weakness in the limbs, dizziness, chest tightness, nausea, inattention, numbness in the limbs, etc. The body temperature is normal or slightly high, generally not higher than 37.5℃.

2. Mild heatstroke includes flushed face, chest tightness, hot and dry skin, or early symptoms of respiratory and circulatory failure, such as pale face, nausea and vomiting, heavy sweating, cold and clammy skin, body temperature rising to above 38°C, decreased blood pressure, and accelerated pulse.

3. In addition to the above symptoms, if severe heatstroke also occurs with fainting or convulsions, or dry skin without sweat, and body temperature above 40°C, it means that the heatstroke is serious and should be treated urgently. For those who are unconscious, acupuncture should be performed on the Ren Zhong and Shi Xuan points. While providing first aid, send the patient to hospital for treatment in time.
