Lumbar disc herniation plate removal process

Lumbar disc herniation plate removal process

Everyone knows that bones in the human body play a very important role in the body. Because muscles and skin are soft substances, bones are needed to support these substances. Due to the frequent use of bones, bones in some parts are prone to disease and degeneration. The lumbar spine is the most prone to disease and is one of the least common lumbar diseases, including lumbar spondylolisthesis and lumbar disc herniation. If lumbar spondylolisthesis occurs, it needs to be fixed with a steel plate. So what is the process for removing the lumbar steel plate after fixation?

The entire framework of the human body is constructed by bones, which support the movements of the entire body. However, due to the frequent changes in people's activities and the continuous increase in age, bones are easily traumatized, and fractures may occur if you are not careful. A fracture refers to an injury to a bone caused by an external force, which can cause the patient to have difficulty in moving and seriously affect his or her life. If a fracture occurs, you should go to the hospital for treatment immediately. Generally, a steel plate will be inserted at the fracture site to correct it and restore it to its original position. In this regard, what is the surgical procedure for fracture plate removal?

Steps/Methods:

1. The process of removing the steel plate is similar to the usual surgical process. The first thing is to push the patient into the operating room, then the surgeon will anesthetize the patient, then disinfect the surgical equipment and the patient's surgical site, and lay sterile towels. This is the preliminary preparation work.

2. Next, the operation begins. Use a scalpel to cut along the surgical incision and open it layer by layer until the steel plate is exposed. First remove the screws, then remove the steel plate. After removal, rinse the incision, suture the incision, and finally disinfect and bandage it. The whole process usually takes about twenty minutes.

3. After the operation, the patient must strengthen rest and conditioning. Eat more crucian carp soup or black chicken soup to enhance nutrition, promote wound healing and body recovery; maintain a good mood and control your emotions; go out for appropriate outdoor sports; go to bed early at night and don't stay up late.

Note:

During the recovery period after the steel plate is removed, the patient must rest in bed more and do some light exercise as appropriate. He should not restrain himself from doing strenuous exercise, as this will cause secondary damage to the bones and lead to recurrence.
