Therefore, if the length of the lesion is greater than the maximum length of the stent, one stent is definitely not enough, and two or even more stents will need to be connected to the lesion. Therefore, the length of the diseased blood vessel also determines the number of stents needed.

After a stent is implanted at the same location, if it is not properly cared for, it may become restenotic. After restenosis, a second operation may be required depending on the patient's condition. Therefore, patients may have multiple stent implants at the same vascular lesion site. In this case, the number of times stents are placed also determines the number of stents placed.

Is it a permanent solution to put a stent in place?

That is not the case. If the patient does not receive proper care after a heart stent surgery, there is a high possibility of restenosis of the blood vessels. After restenosis, depending on the specific situation, if the patient's heart and blood vessel restenosis is not serious, drug treatment can be performed. If the symptoms are very serious, another stent may be inserted or other surgical treatments may be required. Restenosis after stenting is related to many factors, such as not taking medication regularly or poor control of risk factors: smoking, high blood pressure, and high blood lipids are all causes of heart and blood vessel restenosis.

Even if symptoms are relieved after stent placement or bypass surgery, it does not mean that all problems of coronary heart disease have been solved.
