The benefits of vitamin C for hepatitis B

In our daily life, we are used to taking some health care medicines, such as vitamin C. We all know that vitamin C has a great therapeutic effect on many diseases in our body. Vitamin C is also very helpful for the effect of our liver. Especially for some people with hepatitis B, vitamin C is an indispensable medicine. So what are the significant benefits of vitamin C for hepatitis B? Let's learn about it together.

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient for the human body. It is also a vitamin that people are familiar with and often take. It can participate in many biochemical reactions in the human body and can be partially oxidized to produce deoxyvitamin C. This process is reversible, so vitamin C is also a redox agent. It can directly improve liver function and promote metabolism; large-dose application can enhance humoral immunity, promote antibody formation, strengthen the phagocytic function of leukocytes, enhance the body's disease resistance, reduce fatty degeneration of the liver, promote the repair and regeneration of liver cells and the synthesis of glycogen, improve metabolism, enhance diuresis, and promote bilirubin excretion, thereby playing a role in detoxification, jaundice, restoration of liver function, and lowering transaminase; it can also improve adrenal cortex function. In addition, it has the ability to bind bacterial endotoxins, reducing the damage of endotoxins to the liver. Therefore, hepatitis patients should take vitamin C regularly.

Some people have used large doses of vitamin C to treat viral hepatitis in children and achieved significant results, shortening the treatment course from an average of 64.9 days to 31.8 days, and no complications were observed.

So what is the most appropriate range of dosage? It is still difficult to reach a consensus. The generally recommended oral dose is 100-200 mg, 3 times a day; if added to 10% glucose solution for intravenous drip, the amount per mouthful should not exceed 3 grams.

Others argue that it is best to take artificial vitamin C together with foods rich in vitamin C. The reason is that food contains vitamin C oxidase, which is an indispensable enzyme for the oxidation process of vitamin C in the human body. Otherwise, artificially synthesized vitamin C will become ineffective. Therefore, letting hepatitis patients eat more fresh fruits and vegetables is an important way to obtain vitamin C oxidase.

What foods can help hepatitis B patients supplement vitamins?

1. Vitamin A. Such as milk, egg yolk, animal liver, carrots, leeks, shepherd's purse, water spinach, amaranth, day lily, spinach, Chinese mustard, green garlic, mango, basella, orange tomatoes, etc.

2. Vitamin B1. Such as whole wheat, various beans, peanuts, fresh vegetables, fruits, etc.

3. Vitamin B2. Such as soybeans, millet, yeast, green leafy vegetables, bean paste, meat, eggs, liver, milk, silkworm pupae, etc.

6. Vitamin D. For example, cod liver oil, fish, shrimp, milk, egg yolk, mushrooms, bone soup, etc.

7. Vitamin K. When the bile secretion of patients with liver disease is impaired, the absorption of vitamin K, especially vitamin K1 and vitamin K2, is also affected, so they should eat more foods such as cabbage, cauliflower, and peanut oil.
