Will there be vaginal bleeding during pregnancy?

When a woman bleeds during pregnancy, I believe that anyone who cares about her will not only worry about the danger to the fetus, but also the safety of the pregnant mother. After all, bleeding during pregnancy is very likely to be a miscarriage, so once a pregnant mother experiences this situation, she must seek medical attention to find out the situation. However, some people may want to know: Will women bleed from their vagina in the early stages of pregnancy?

Will there be bleeding in early pregnancy?

Bleeding in early pregnancy usually occurs within 12 weeks after a woman becomes pregnant, which is called spotting. Some spotting is just a small amount of bloody secretion, similar to the amount of bleeding in the early or late stages of menstruation. The color of bleeding also varies, some are brown, some are bright red, some are coffee brown, etc. About a quarter of pregnant women will experience varying degrees of bleeding, and half of them will lose the fetus.

Some bleeding in early pregnancy is a normal physiological phenomenon and there is no need to be too nervous. However, if bleeding in early pregnancy is accompanied by lower abdominal pain and the blood is bright red, then you need to be alert. This may be a symptom of threatened abortion and you need to seek medical attention immediately to save the fetus. At the same time, ectopic pregnancy, hydatidiform mole, cervical lesions, etc. can also cause bleeding in early pregnancy. Therefore, if bleeding occurs in early pregnancy, you must pay enough attention to it and it is best to see a doctor for examination.

Bleeding during early pregnancy may be caused by:

1. Cervical lesions

When it comes to early pregnancy bleeding, many people tend to ignore the problem of cervix. If the cervix is severely inflamed and eroded, or if there are already cervical polyps, it is easy for the surface capillaries to rupture and bleed due to hormonal changes after pregnancy. In recent years, the age group in which cervical cancer most commonly occurs has quietly dropped to 30-40 years old. Being pregnant does not mean that there is no problem with the cervix. Cervical smear tests should be done regularly before and after pregnancy. If there is vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy, the cervix should also be checked for problems.

2. Ectopic pregnancy

When the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, it is called an ectopic pregnancy. The incidence rate is about 1%, and 95% of ectopic pregnancies occur in the fallopian tube. Because the wall of the fallopian tube is very thin, it cannot provide enough nutrition to the embryo. The gradually developing fertilized egg causes the wall of the fallopian tube to expand, which can cause the wall to rupture. Abnormal vaginal bleeding will occur at 7-8 weeks of pregnancy, and there may even be severe abdominal pain or shock due to massive intra-abdominal bleeding.

3. Hydatidiform mole

Hydatidiform mole is a benign chorionic disease with an incidence of approximately 1‰, and the incidence is higher in Asian countries. Because of the abnormal proliferation of trophoblastic cells of the placental villi, the terminal villi turn into blisters, which are connected in clusters and resembling grapes, hence the name "hydatidiform mole". In the early stages of pregnancy, there may be symptoms such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, severe morning sickness and even palpitations.
