Why is milk salty?

Why is milk salty?

In our lives, many mothers choose to breastfeed their babies, not only because breast milk has a higher nutritional value, but also because breast milk tastes better than milk powder. Generally, breast milk tastes lightly milky, but sometimes due to the physical reasons of the parents, breast milk will have some special taste. Some mothers' milk is salty. What's going on?

There is no other abnormality in the body of a breastfeeding mother. The saltiness of breast milk is related to diet. It may be that the vegetables the mother eats contain more salt. In this case, the baby can be breastfed, but the baby must be given more water. The mother should also pay attention to diet and try to eat less salt. At the same time, mothers should also drink more water.

To ensure breastfeeding, mothers should adjust their mood, maintain a happy attitude, pay attention to nutrition, ensure a certain amount of fluid intake, let the baby suck more, and mothers should also build confidence in breastfeeding.

Some mothers go through this process. It's not that your milk supply suddenly decreases, but that your baby becomes more and more hungry. This phenomenon will continue until the baby is 2-3 months old. During this period, you must eat more and supplement more. Don't be afraid of getting fat. Even if you are not hungry, you must eat. If the milk supply cannot keep up, it will become insufficient after 2-3 months. This is a critical period.

The main reason is that you eat too much salt. This is not just a problem of your feeling, but a fact. Especially during the confinement period, you should pay more attention to not putting salt in the food you eat, or putting less salt in it. If you eat too much salt, your child's mouth will get chapped. Remember to let your child drink more water. Baoma’s diet should be light. Also, do not eat foods made with pickles, mustard tubers, and salted fish. Breast milk is affected by diet, so mothers should pay more attention to it.

Milk at different stages is suitable for the needs of babies of different ages.

1. Colostrum is thick and yellow, with little fat and high protein content. It also contains many anti-infection components and a high content of white blood cells. These immune components can protect newborns from infection. Colostrum contains growth factors that promote the maturation of small intestinal villi, prevent incomplete protein metabolites from entering the blood, and prevent allergic reactions. Colostrum has a slight laxative effect and can help meconium be excreted earlier. Because meconium contains a large amount of bilirubin, 50% of which can be reabsorbed by the intestines, colostrum can reduce the chance of hyperbilirubinemia. Colostrum is also high in phospholipids, sodium, vitamin A and vitamin E.

2. Transitional milk and mature milk have high fat content, while the protein and inorganic salt content gradually decreases.

3. During each breastfeeding, the milk that the baby sucks first is called foremilk, and the milk that the baby sucks later is called hindmilk. Foremilk is blue in color and contains high levels of protein, lactose and water, so breastfed babies do not need to be given additional water. The hind milk is white in color and high in fat, which can provide energy for the baby. This requires the baby to empty one breast first and then the other so that he can get the full amount of milk.
