Why do I keep hiccuping at night

The quality of sleep directly affects our physical health, especially nowadays when people are under great pressure and have shallow sleep at night, and will wake up at the slightest noise. If you suddenly hiccup while sleeping at night, your sleep quality will plummet. If you keep hiccuping, your chest will keep heaving and you won't be able to lie down and rest. What is the reason for hiccups at night?

Bend forward 90 degrees, lift your head upward, and drink a mouthful of boiled water in this position. It is very difficult to swallow water in this position, but as long as you insist on swallowing the water in this position and master the key points, the hiccups will stop immediately after a mouthful of water. If it doesn't work, it means the key points are wrong. Take another mouthful and pay attention to the key points. I believe you will succeed.

Almost everyone has experienced hiccups. Not only adults hiccup, children hiccup, and even fetuses in their mother's womb hiccup. What’s even more interesting is that puppies and kittens can also hiccup. Although hiccups are a minor matter, if they continue without stopping, I'm afraid no one can stand it. In mild cases, it affects sleep, eating, and work; in severe cases, it may aggravate existing heart and lung diseases, cause esophageal mucosal tearing, and lead to gastrointestinal bleeding.

What is hiccups?

Hiccups are medically called "hiccups". Temporary hiccups may occur if you are exposed to cold stimulation, have a full meal, eat too fast, or eat dry and hard food. This is not a disease, so there is no need to see a doctor.

Why do we hiccup?

Between our chest cavity and abdominal cavity, there is a thick muscle membrane like a hat, called the diaphragm, which separates the chest cavity and abdominal cavity. Like other organs in the body, the diaphragm has a nerve supply and blood supply. When the stimuli that cause hiccups are transmitted to the brain, the brain will issue instructions to cause the diaphragm to have paroxysmal and spasmodic contractions, thus causing hiccups.

To treat hiccups, the first thing to do is to treat the primary disease that causes the hiccups, and then to treat the symptoms. Here are some simple and practical methods that can block nerve reflexes and stop hiccups.

1. Distract attention and eliminate tension and adverse stimulation.

2. Take a deep breath first, then hold it for as long as possible, then exhale, and repeat several times.

3. Drink boiled water, especially slightly hot boiled water. Take a big sip and swallow it in several times.

4. Wash your hands, insert your index finger into your mouth, and gently stimulate your throat.

5. Put the mixed gas into a plastic bag and inhale it. The mixed gas contains 90% oxygen and 10% carbon dioxide.

6. Chew ginger slices.

7. Wash the raw leeks, squeeze out the juice and drink it orally.

8. Take 20 persimmon stalks (referring to the stalks of fresh persimmons or persimmon cakes), decoct them in water into 100 ml, and take orally in two doses, 50 ml each time. You can also add leek seeds when frying.
