During regular physical examinations, a routine blood test is an important part of the test, and it is the most basic blood test. A routine blood test includes the cellular part of the blood, as well as the liquid part of the blood, as well as white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, etc. A routine blood test is an important basic test. There are some precautions to be aware of during the test. Let us understand what a routine blood test checks. What does a routine blood test check? 1. White blood cell examination: An increase in neutrophil count is mainly seen in purulent bacterial infections in the body; a decrease in neutrophil count is seen in the use of certain drugs, certain diseases such as influenza, radiation exposure, rheumatic diseases, certain blood diseases and many other reasons. Lymphocytosis is seen in infections caused by certain viruses such as measles, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, lymphoproliferative diseases, etc. The reduction is mainly seen in exposure to radiation and the use of cortical hormones such as prednisone. 2. Red blood cell count check: Anemia or blood loss will affect the number of red blood cells. High values may indicate polycythemia, while low values may indicate anemia. 3. Hemoglobin examination: Hemoglobin exists in red blood cells and is a substance that transports oxygen to provide the body with necessary oxygen. Due to the influence of menstruation and pregnancy, women's hemoglobin is generally lower than that of men, so women are more susceptible to anemia. High values may indicate polycythemia and decreased cardiac output, while low values may indicate hypochromic anemia or iron deficiency anemia. Generally speaking, men and women with hemoglobin levels below 10g/dl are severely anemic, but it is not a big deal if it is 1-2g/dl lower than the normal value. A routine blood test is to check whether there are any abnormalities in the blood, such as whether the body has infection, anemia, blood diseases, early detection and diagnosis of certain diseases, diagnose whether anemia, blood system diseases, and reflect the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow. Precautions Before the test: (1) Do not eat greasy or high-protein foods and avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol the day before blood collection. The alcohol content in the blood will directly affect the test results. (2) You should fast for 12 hours starting at 8pm the day before the physical examination to avoid affecting the test results. (3) When drawing blood, you should relax to avoid blood vessel constriction due to fear, which will increase the difficulty of blood collection. After the examination: (1) After drawing blood, apply local pressure on the needle hole for 3-5 minutes to stop the bleeding. Note: Do not rub to avoid causing subcutaneous hematoma. (2) The pressing time should be sufficient. The clotting time varies from person to person, and some people need a little longer to clot. Therefore, if you stop applying pressure immediately when the surface of the skin seems to be not bleeding, the bleeding may not stop completely, and the blood may seep into the subcutaneous layer, causing bruises. Therefore, pressing for a longer time can completely stop the bleeding. If there is a tendency of bleeding, the pressing time should be prolonged. (3) If you experience symptoms of needle phobia such as dizziness, blurred vision, fatigue, etc. after blood draw, you should lie down immediately and drink a small amount of sugar water. Wait until the symptoms are relieved before undergoing a physical examination. (4) If local bruising occurs, apply a warm towel for 24 hours to promote absorption. |
